Update:

Explanation for the delay

"....Hi, guys,

I don't want anyone to worry. We didn't forget to pay our electricity bill, and nobody fell asleep at his desk before pressing the "On" button. happy

We're working on one more critical element, and should be up shortly. Don't worry, I'll be here until you're all safely in the game. (Yes, I know, that doesn't matter, but I'm trying to be friendly. grin )

Some things we'd like to hear about from you: Comments about the new region (Yes, WHEN you get to see it wink ) and some significant changes to the interface, too. Remember to hit the Suggestions Thread when you have a chance, even take notes and post after this busy weekend.

Thanks for your patience!...."

I am very interested in this game. Unforunately WoW has hijacked ALL of my free time, and then some. So I may have to miss this one. 🙁 But Do, please try and convince me otherwise.

I haven't been keeping up with Guild Wars. Is this open beta?

Last time I checked it was invitation only. I have always been busy during beta events so I've never gotten a chance to get in. I played it some at PAX though.

was looking forard to this game last year during the E3 event..
now not at all..
I didnt like the last 2 beta periods the game isnt very fun =/

My mad skillz and reflexes >>>>> your 40 hours a week of play time.

it's no uo - not by a long shot.

No monthly subscription fee? Nice graphics?

This isn't a sci-fi MMORPG but this might be the one I've been waiting for.

Edit: Thanks malak for pointing out my typo.

I think you meant to say it isn't a sci-fi MMORPG. The fact is, it isn't an MMORPG at all. The whole "no monthly fees" means nothing, no RPG has monthly fees.

Thanks for pointing out my typo, but I have to disagree with the second half of your post (unless I misunderstand you). EQ has a fee, EVE has a fee, WoW has a fee, DAoC has a fee, Planetside has a fee, etc... This is what I meant. And to make matters worse, you have to buy the game as well. I'll pay for one or the other but not both.

I have to agree here. I played a beta weekend and it just wasn't 'for me'

Not going to say the game is awful by a long shot, but its just not my cup o tea.

From how I see it, its just a new angle for Diablo to take

" Looks good to play while WoW is down on tuesdays" - lol.

Is this game Turn-based?? It looks bee-U-tee-full!!! More realistic, than cartoony-like WoW is. Im fighting the temptation to stop by ebgames on my way home.

Looks like you can 'Talk" in this game. Yes! I've died so many times trying to communicate in WoW.

True. I'm not looking at it as an MMO, but as a counter-strike-RPG.

Will there be some sort of free period I can try out? I dont want to buy the game unless I like it and I missed the beta.

What I meant was, Guildwars isn't an MMORPG, it's just a plain RPG, and RPGs(Diablo, NWN, DS) don't have monthly fees. So it's not a valid point to choosing whether to play it over an MMO. An MMO, in concept, has more to offer than standard RPGs which warrants a monthly fee.

Maybe there will be a demo, don't see why there wouldn't. You can play it single player afterall.

When I played the beta for this I was wholely disappointed. This was before I even played WoW. They are nothing alike; guild wars doesn't have any of the feel an MMORPG has. The game loses a lot from everything being instanced. You never run into people while adventuring, and the world is extremely linear. It's basicly D2 with a stronger party system (read groups more required).

Oh OK, I didn't know that. I even checked out their site before I posted. 😕 😱
