I've got a geForce2 MX. I tried installing Linux on my machine, but gave up in frustration after trying to even get into xwindows. I know it's supposed to be more difficult with geForce cards. Is there a guide explaining how to install Linux with a GF2MX present? I also wouldn't mind a link to a good, basic tutorial and/or reference for Linux. Thanks

Thanks SUO. That should be helpful, hopefully. :) Anyone else remember if/where a newer version is?

Personally I've always found using the CVS copies of XFree86 to be more useful than any stable version, but now that 4.0.2 has been released, there should be decent GF2MX support in the nv driver. Of course Nvidia's binary driver works as well. As per SUOrangeman's post, that steps outlined in that link should work provided you grab 4.0.2. If not, try Nvidia's binary driver.

I had Suse7 Linux running GFMX card too and its not supported. The latest version of Xfree86 4.0.2 was just released a cpl of weeks ago and it supports the GF2 family cards. Needless to say it fixed my resolutions prob but my mouse isnt working now. The pointer seems stuck at the top left hand corner if u read my post about "Joy n sadness with my Linux"
