STEP 1
Remove battery compartment cover. Remove batteries.

On a standard, non-wireless keyboard, you can simply shut down the computer, unplug the keyboard, hose it out, let it drive for 24 hours, and plug it back in good as new. Unless you spilled soda in it. Then its easier to just get a new keyboard.
