I'm trying to install windows on a new HDD and and when i tried to install windows on it i was told that the partition table for this HDD is set to GUID (GPT?) and that windows can only be installed on MBR. I have no idea how to do this.

Can any one help me or point me in the right direction?

My current OS is Vista x64 if that helps and the HDD is a Western Digital 150GB Raptor 10k RPM.

Microsoft has instructions here to change the disk to an MBR partition format. It requires temporary installation of the disk in an already working machine.

However, Vista supports GPT disks so I'm really not sure why your Vista install CD would be complaining about the drive unless it's really not new and someone else formatted it for use in a Mac or other operating system that uses a different GUID format.

Have you tried telling the Vista install process to delete all partitions and then create and format a new partition on the drive?
