Guess who just signed up for TA SETI?

Ack I'm only #351? I want to be in the top 100 which would be quite a jump. Considering I have the following rig how long does it take to complete one WU?

Dell Dimension 4100
Pentium 3/866
Intel i815 mobo
512MB PC133 CAS2 Crucial RAM
640k DSL

welcome aboard RossMAN!!

in a big team like this, ya have to have over 1500 WUs to be in the top 100!!

ConfusedBW

P.S. i'm only 49 places behind ya, and right on ya tail, especially if i get my assimilation 2day (16 Duron 650'ss, and 17 Celly 433's)

RossMAN, welcome to the team MAN...so glad to have you with us.🙂

ConfusedBW, that's awsome.😀

Welcome to the TeAm RossMAN!! Now go tell all your friends about the wonders of distributed computing! 😉 The more assimilations you can get, the faster you'll rise through the ranks.

Cool you finally were able to join 😀

Welcome to TA 😀
btw my main rig (ship) is a PIII 650 @ 820(126FSB,CAS2,BX chipset) ,it does most WU's in about 7hrs on CLi v3.03,some (VLAR) WU's take up to 11hrs.
I should think your PIII 866 would do most WU's in a little under 7 hrs

Oh,& if you really wanta race up the ranks you'll want to leave it running 24/7 & use the text (CLi) version of SETI with some WU storing program(SETIQ or SETIDriver).
Their are links in my sig for those if you're interested.
If you need any further help ,just shout 🙂

If I were to do that how quickly would I be able to complete 1 WU?

Hey RossMAN, I don't look at how long it takes to do one WU, I look at how may WUs a machine can produce per day. Of course, that is based on how fast a machine does one WU. 🙂 Your machine will produce over 3 WUs per day; thus, completing 100 WUs in about 1 month. If you check my fleet in the sig below you will get a number of PIII examples. To get the best SETI times your system's memory must be of high quality CAS2 variety and your BIOS must be set to take advantage of it. Those times are also assuming your are running the cli version of SETI and not the GUI, you don't have a "busy" screen saver running and you are not playing 3D games.

Welcome Rossman.
Looking at the Setis stats your inline with the daily WU times. 8hrs32min. If you leave it running 24/7 you should be able to get 3 per day. Just like JW says. Dont use the GUI(Graphic User Interface). It takes alot more time to complete a WU.
If you need some help setting up the CLI(Command Line Interface) with SetiDriver just step in and ask. Most of the guys here can help. God knows they have straightened me out on several occasions.
