Rossman let me ask you a honest question. Are you taking any amphetamines or medication for ADD right now? They can lead to impusle buying and debt(I am not kidding). 100% serious here.

Ross needs his title to be "deal king"

Laptop deal looks very tempting but everyone is right. You need to find a hot deal on a fixer upper house and pay off that credit card debt. What reason do you really need this laptop anyways?

Ross--

How come you seem so proud of being so deeply in debt? Is it honestly worth it to you to become a slave to your inability to restrain from purchasing things that you honestly don't need, but for some reason (be it socially or culturally induced) must have? Have you considered the reprocussions to your long term financial standing, not to mention if you ever decide to have a family? It's really nothing to be proud of.

My 2¢.

that deal sounds good but it'd be even better if it was in the 5-6 lb range. oh well, can't have everything.

hot deals are only hot if you've been thinking of buying something and you find a great deal for it, not when you don't need it at all or can't afford it. sometimes when i buy useless stuff i sell it on ebay. people on ebay will buy anything.

I think you can return it to Dell within 30 days, the total satisfaction policy. :)

rossman why don't you sell your Compaq laptop on Ebay and make a profit? If you repeat that several times and maybe then you can buy a laptop using the profits you make. :)

Hopefully it was paid on a 0.0% apr credit card for now ... how about a second income selling Amway products? :)

Lemme end this with the quote that best describes you: "RossMAN, pennywise, fun, foolish."

Rossman,

STOP SPENDING NOW. You WILL regret it in the long run. If you continue on this way you will be so far in debt that you won't be able to afford an ISP to come to these forums anymore.

Seriously, you got some spending issues. Get out your scissors and start cutting up some of your cards so you can stop spending and start paying off your debt.

To Rossman the ring of the Doorbell by the UPS driver gives him a rush similar to the one a Junky would get when he first shoots up.

RossMan,

I just ordered the EXACT same setup as you through the kiosk (including luggage). Anyway, the first time up there I got same gal that scanned in the two items and gave some kind of error message after she fiddled with some buttons. So the manager comes up and tries to enter in the coupons and asks me if I have the coupons for $30 and the $39.99 luggage. I get the Staples newsletters all the time so I certainly don't have it. Anyway, I was hoping to get the $75 shipping and apply the $50 off $300 purchase coupon by using the kiosk. She tells me that she needs the original e-mails printed to accept it. I tell the manager that some people have been able to get the $75 shipping waived and she says that it doesn't apply to computer purchases. She then calls the computer guy over and asks him for the $300 off coupon as if the one I entered shouldn't work at all? He comes back and repeats the same number I gave her but she still had problems getting things to work. So the guy offers his services and asks if I was willing to get it reordered through him. Seeing that I figure this could be an opportunity for me to ask about the shipping, I said sure I don't mind waiting. So I get to talking about the shipping and how some people were able to get it waived and he asks me which stores and I told him I don't know as I heard about this through deal sites. I ask him why and he was ready to report those people as they can get fired for doing it (like $75 shipping charge isn't robbery for a notebook?). Right then I was thinking dick. So he goes through the whole order the same way I did it and enters in all the coupons exactly the way I had it. The ONLY difference was he entered in an associate number where it says "if applicable". Then I ask him if he had anything to benefit from it like commission. He said, "a little". I figure it was either a yes or no question. So I said, "figures". It explains why he wanted to be helpful in the first place. Then he offers my original order as I was saying it's the same order as before. As he had it printed out he was ready to leave and I told him, "aren't you going to ring it up?" He tells me if I wanted to sure. So he rings it up and enters in all the coupons. I still don't know if he used the original order or the one he printed out. At the last minute I brought out the printed $50 off $300 coupon and asked if he could apply that. He looked at it and says no because I had 3 coupons in there already. I think he was just being a dick back at me for asking about commission. I was ready to tell him to take off the luggage and the coupon to make room for it but I just said forget about it. So not only did this take over half an hour in the store with all the delays but I gained nothing by going in there as I could've applied all the coupons online without the hassle (they needed to write down my CDL and use those old CC slide contraptions to make a carbon of it. So after taxes and all the coupons applied the total is $1247.65. I'm hoping I can get the extra $100 rebate from Staples to make up for the shipping. All they had to do was ignore the barcode for the shipping item and I would've been happy. After all this I ought to just cancel the whole order. :) Hopefully when it's all said and done, the total would be $1047.65 shipped. I still have a Dell 4100 from last year that's perfectly workable.

I got it because gf has like a 5yr old notebook (IBM Celeron 366). I'm giving her my old one Inspiron 4100, 256MB memory, GeForce2Go, 30GB HD, 14.1" TFT. Gotta have the newer toy. Besides, just another tax writeoff for business rather than give to Uncle Sam.

cerebusPu - Yep I know what you mean, I feel your pain both emotionally and financially.

pX - You can return your Dell laptop within 30 days but you have to pay shipping back (around $40-$50) but you'd better act fast and go to Staples B&M NOW because the Staples $100 MIR expires today. The price in my first post should actually be $837 not $937 because I just learned that I am eligible for the Staples $100 MIR.

Red Dawn - LOL That is so freakin' true.

CuriousG - I can't believe I read that entire post, do I get a cookie? What's wrong with him being helpful if he makes a commission? I have no problems with that at all, he's gotta make a living and I'm sure that Staples CSRs get minimum wage ... as long as they let me use all the coupons I want and he makes a commisson we both win. I'm glad you ordered the same config although I should have paid an extra $55 for 1 SODIMM instead of 2. Oh well 256MB DDR SDRAM should be sufficient to run Win XP Pro. You'll be amazed at the 15.0" SXGA display.

Vortex - Hehe, I already tried :p

timelapse - You guys can hold hands but I don't wanna be part of some kinky perverted 90,000 person sex-capade. Besides where have all your hands been?

Thanks Ross. I just ordered it, maybe 5 minutes ago.
Someone on FW said they talked to a CSR who said that the second 100 rebate had a 10 day grace period, so i said 'worth a try'.
At staples there was no way theyd give me free shipping, as the $75 charge is from compaq they said, not staples, whatever, they let me use the 50 off no prob with the other coupons. However, tax was almost 50, so that nullified that; I'm hoping Staples charges tax for online purchases as well so I at least saved another 50 bucks..
THANKS!

The external USB2 24x CDRW at officemax will go well with this one, as well as the firewire 3.5 enclosure for my 80 gig that I got for 40 bucks. Sweet.
