Guess who else got nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize...

No, I'm not joking. It just flashed across the TV. (No link yet) He was nominated by the Landmark Legal Foundation.

So just in case anyone was taking the Al Gore nom seriously...

Edit: Link

Wow.

Just....wow. 😕 Heh, surely you can't be cereal!

I guess Bush is up next for the Chemistry category then?

lol, neither one of them should be on the list.
I think I'll start a foundation and nominate my Dog for the peace prize.
She hasn't peed on the neighbors lawn all week.

Well, I guess anyone can push their nominee forward and the Nobel prize committee will then have to sift through and separate the wheat from the chaff.

In such any such selection process, I am sure the Rush nomination will reach the wastebasket quickly while providing the committee with a cathartic moment of comic relief.----the only question is how long and loud they will laugh before dismissing that one as not even a distant contender.

But come to think of it---isn't there an ignobel prize he might contend for?

?Rush Limbaugh is the foremost advocate for freedom and democracy in the world today," explained Levin. "Everyday he gives voice to the values of democratic governance, individual opportunity and the just, equal application of the rule of law ? and it is fitting that the Nobel Committee recognize the power of these ideals to build a truly peaceful world for future generations."

This has got to be a joke, right???? Please tell me it's a joke...:Q

Finally! The man has worked tirelessly over the years to solve both the obesity and pain-killer abuse epidemics by by doing everything in his power to reduce the supply!

And shouldn't he get some sort of humanity award for wanting to reach out and touch those young impressionable Dominicans?

And this is the problem with the world today. People like this guy.

How has Limbaugh "made a difference?" I ask because that is the supposed basis for a Nobel Prize. Honestly, I'm not trying to be partisan here, but sitting on your ass all day spewing hate into the mike hardly qualifies. Is Limbaugh actively involved in some charities that I'm unaware of??

It's the Nobel Society that's the joke. This is the group that gave Arafat the Nobel Peace Prize. GG there guys.

I'm 99% sure that Rush had his buddies at the LMF nominate him in response to Gore's equally ridiculous nomination to illustrate a point... That anyone can receive a NPP nomination and that the award itself has been reduced to joke status in recent years and has little if anything to do with actually securing peace.

OMG WTF. :Q

🙁

Uh BTW, is it just me, or does that pic make it look like Limbaugh has had some work done?

"Founded in 1976, Landmark Legal Foundation is the premiere public interest law firm fighting for conservative principles in America."

No surprise.

From the website of the Landmark Legal Foundation.

Is it any surprise they nominated him? He pushes the same agenda they do so they call it peace. This would be on the same level as NAMBLA nominating Mark Foley for a Nobel prize.

Edit: Damn, I took way too long to post and got beaten to the quote.

Ol' Rushbo would be a hoot stumbling up to accept the award.

God forbid I go against the consensus here, but... there are a lot of reasons to dislike Limbaugh (I've hated him since before the '92 election), but his addiction to painkillers is not one of them. There are millions and millions of people who suffer from chronic pain, and opiate painkillers are extremely easy to become addicted to. Hell, I suffered actual physical withdrawal symptoms once after I was on vicodin for a month for a sports injury. I can only imagine what it would be like after taking oxycotin for years for chronic back pain. Show some compassion please.

Yep. And let's not forget Rabin and Peres, who deserved it about as much as Arafat. And most of all, let's not forget that Kissinger also got the Nobel Peace Prize. They might as well give it to Pol Pot (posthumously) or G. W. Bush.

Dear Dr. Mjos:

Landmark Legal Foundation herewith submits the name of Rush Limbaugh as an unsolicited nomination for the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize. We are offering this nomination for Mr. Limbaugh's nearly two decades of tireless efforts to promote liberty, equality and opportunity for all mankind, regardless of race, creed, economic stratum or national origin. We fervently believe that these are the only real cornerstones of just and lasting peace throughout the world.

Rush Limbaugh is a nationally syndicated radio talk show host in the United States and one of the most popular broadcasters in the world. His daily radio show is heard on more than 600 radio stations in the United States and around the world. For 18 years he has used his show to become the foremost advocate for freedom and democracy in the world today. Everyday he gives voice to the values of democratic governance, individual opportunity and the just, equal application of the rule of law -- and it is
fitting the Nobel Committee recognize the power of these ideals to build a truly peaceful world for future generations.

Thank you for your thoughtful and serious consideration of this nomination. Should you require additional information, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,
Mark R. Levin
President
