I see, not one, but 2 2.0 L DOHC 6 cyl Nissan turbocharged engines from a early 90's skyline. those engines will make 400 HP+ when properly prepped.

<edit>
And make 190 or so now. Well, when rebuilt :)

My guess as to where it is going will be..... A 240Z ?

There must be an anomaly in the system! A person who owns arguably the fastest truck, and drives domestic, on the forums, who is giving props to a japanese engine without calling it "rice"! What the hell? ;)

I have no problems with fast imports. The problem I have is when a stock (or close to it) gets turned into a monstrocity with a huge wing and fart pipe. Why do you need a triple wing 3' taller than your car on your trunk? Last I checked most are FWD ( but not this one. RWD all the way! )

The guys at work are all going out to the track on september 22 @ Rt. 66 in Illionis. Anyone who is bored, feel free to come. One of the managers has chalenged me to a race. He owns a very nice higly modified Firebird. Should be fun. Pics glaore! and I just figured out how to encode and edit movies, so I should have some good footage :)

<edit>
Oh, and a guy in the phonce center owns a new Z06 corvette. He is waiting for HD stock to go back up, then he is going to add a supercharger and intercooler. I doubt he can get it done by the 22nd, but we can hope! That should get him into the 10s.

Yep, you almost hit the nail on the head! The one on the right is complete, while the one on the left is just the engine. One silvertop, one redtop. The one on the right is going into a 90 240Sx or a 95 240SX after its built up from the block. Only problem is that its going to be difficult (and expensive!) to get the parts I want for the engine like a stroker kit, valves, springs, cams, and a metal head gasket.

The guy I got the engine from also had RB25's and RB26 engines that are going into the early datsun cars... I forgot which models but it might have been a 240Z. He had a buncha extra skyline engines lying around, so he gave us a complete rb20det setup and threw in an extra engine for $750. Not bad huh :)

I'll let all you guys know what my quarter mile time and hp are in about a year when everything's all said and done :D

Question: Is the rest of the 240Z drivetrain going to be able to handle the extra power? (sorry, I don't know much about 240Zs)

only 190hp for a turbocharged i6? MY dohc 2l i4 makes more than that :)

And any engine will make 400+hp when you put enough money into it ... but that into 240z (2500lbs) and you gonna have a lot of fun on the road

Depends on how hard the driver is on the go pedal. It should handle it and is a direct bolt in. even the same engine mounts are the same. Only problem is the harness. Takes a little modding, but pretty easy. You are going to have a problem hooking up without some suspension mods though.

Ah yes. true. But the 6 cyl is sooo much smoother. Also see the weight that was posted above. At that weight, who cares about the power? it is going to fly!

and as for me defending an import, is is a 240 ( or 300 ) Z ( SX, whatever ) One of the few I can deal with ;) An actual performance car that was made to perform.

I know... but its all about the challenge and being unique. If I wanted 400HP, I'd just save up and buy the corvette and drive around town with that. But it wouldnt' be any fun.

The reason why its only 215HP is because its only a 2.0L inline 6 engine with a super short stroke @ only 78x69 with a compression ratio of 8.5:1.

and like Evadman said:

"The RB20DET is the performance 2 liter engine with good allround perfromance and reliability.
This engine responds well to modificaton and can make 400hp with the stock bottom end.
It features in the R32 series of skylines both 4 door and 2 door & 4WDand came in manual or automatic.
The automatic like all nissans makes about 5 hp less "

All rice is Japanese but not all Japanese is rice. I like my sister's 240 even though it is stock. Now if she had an ugly ass body kit on it and a billboard sized wing I would call it rice and laugh at her.

Hey, anything that is modified is pretty cool. I couldn't see the pic well enough to tell what it was.....new monitor time maybe? :) Maybe I'll save that link to help me convince the wife :D

BTW, I'll argue about the fastest truck part ;) :Q

I asked that guy who sold me the engine that question too... he says his buddy usually imports different engines, but if I ask him for the SR20, he can get the front clip for about $1600 although there is a wait period as importing sr20's is not his specialty. Everywhere else is selling for more than $2200.
