I do not get along with with my pop, at all. I hardly say a word to him. I long for the day when he and I part our separate ways. Only person I'll be missing is my sis, that's it. My grandpa was very dear and close to me, there's simply no comparing between him and my pop.

We've been into numerous screaming-at-the-top-of-my-lungs arguments before. Now it just gets old and tiring, and I just ignore him and avoid him. Pity the old man and safe me some energy.

<-- asian :(

Heh...some people just feel brutally honest when they are drunk. Whenever I get drunk, I always end up telling people I love them, whether it be my parents, my friends, my dog, strangers, etc. :p

My dad has worked ~90 hour work weeks for the last ~15 years of my life. I just started working and I don't particularly like it. But last week my dad told me, you better keep at it, I'm tired of working. I have never in my entire life heard my father say he's tired of anything that's hard work.

I don't dare mention now that I don't like my work.

Moreso when they're someone elses drunk parents, though.......
When I was 10 or so my friend's dad came home really drunk one night when his son (my friend) and one of his friend's (my other friend) were having a sleepover and peed on the guest! Hilarity!

lol...one time in college I was lying on the top bunk trying to sleep, and my drunk roommate got out of bed and walked over to my desk. I had my bookbag sitting on the floor there, and the next thing I know he is pissing on my bookbag!! He was pretty embarassed the next day, and he washed my bookbag for me. :p

happened to me last year. friend came to visit me and my roommate. we partied pretty hard. he woke up in the middle of the night and peed on my roommate's side of the room. my roommate is kinda a neat freak so of course he was totally having a cow, the guy that peed still didnt know what was going on, and i was just laying there laffing my arse off. good times indeed.

getting back on topic, my dad always wants to go to waffle house when hes drunk. nothing like drivin your drunk dad to waffle house and havin an omelet :p

my dad doesn't drink but one time when we were working on something he just somehow guided this conversation to him having been on some serious anti-depresents and being suicidal for a while and how I should do what I want in life, not what I feel will just make me money, b/c it was driving him nuts.... but i love him, even though the conversation surprised the crap out of me. He's this kind of old school guy that works really hard for his money, one of those 80+ hour a week sort of workers.

Sounds like your dad told you feelings he didn't feel comfortable expressing while sober. Tell him you love him.

you sound like an angry teen. He just doesn't know how to reach out to you and when he finally has the courage (booze) to try you get all pissed off. Put yourself in his shoes.

Another vote for 'sounds like he is trying to reach out to you'. Please, take it for what it is worth... HE LOVES YOU. No one is perfect, so just leave it at that and try to be glad he told you, drunk or not.

My daughter's best friend is American born of Chinese parents. She gets frustrated with her parents (her mom is one of my best friends) but I always tell her that it was very different for them than it is for her.

People from the 'Old Country' (wherever their old country may be) generally came here to give their kids a chance at a better life. They did not have it easy, so try to understand that they are doing the best they can.

I love you, toooooooooo mannnnnnnnnnnn

He sounds like an uptight Asian parent (go figure) that can only express how he feels after relaxing his analness through alcohol.

Reach out to him. I've never had a father or a dad that was worth a damn, so go for it.
