If you leave a half full cup of beer out, the flies will get in it and drown. I know this because if my slob roomate. He left it out overnight, and all the flies were floating around in it in the morning.

Down on the beaches in North Carolina...the flies get so friggin huge you have to keep an eye on pets and small children lest they be carried away by the winged death. Greenhead deer flies, mozzies the size of helicopters...i honestly can't think of any value they provide.:|

The only thing I can think of that insects are good for is to fertilize plants and spread stuff around that way - because if plants weren't here we probably wouldn't have too many cows, and that means no steak :(

*Most* insects are completely worthless: centipedes, flies, wasps, those water bug things that skim on the surface, dragonflies, etc....

I should start a thread about insects being worthless but there's always those pussies that make it a point to thread crap and say exactly the opposite of what the subject states, just to be pricks. Maybe I should start a thread about that?? (No, because then people would mock that, even though this is Off Topic and we can talk about whatever the hell we want to talk about.)

So did you ask your roomie if fly beer taste any different than non-fly beer?
You notice that in a lot of 3rd world countries there are so many flies the natives don't bother to shoo them away and the flies just walk all over their faces?
Sorta glad to know that the thread topic wasn't about something you had to wash your hands over.

<< What I can't stand are fruit flies. In the harvest season (we live in a county where lots of grapes are grown) we get invaded and there's really no way to kill the little buggers. >>

Put about 1/2 inch of cider vinegar in a brandy siffer and add a couple drops of dish soap. Makes the best fruit fly trap.

They love the stuff and the soap raises the miniscus to where they slide in.

Actually I like what this thread has turned into... talking about how to kill insects and interesting experiences. I am just attracted to this sorta thing. My dad works in the electronics field and they have that -40F spray. Use that sucker on bees and spiders... they turn pretty white, pretty quick. ;)

Big flies are usually a sign that something is dead, those are the carniverous kind of flies. I always have those when a rat dies in the attic. I have lots of flies today because the trash overflowed.
