Guess what I just saw in Quiznos

A young girl, no older than 10, eating there alone. She has a sandwich and a cup of soup. I've never seen such a thing. I wanted to ask her where her parent are and how she got there. But didn't bother. I left after I got my dinner.

Did you see a pepper bar?

I don't get the reference 😕

The ad with the googly eyed mice? It was insanely random and funny. Seeing it stoned was a life changing experience. "Eat quizno's subs, they got a pepper bar. I love the moon......." Pure genius

why is this a problem?

maybe she is hungry and she lives nearby?

would you let your kid, less than 10, to walk to a restaurant alone in dark night. Granted it's safe here. but still strange.

...brings back great memories...😛

Yeah, I would let them walk to a restaurant like that if it was really close by.

Apparently I grew up in an era when there wasn't as much hype over "dangers."

Also, I work in a restaurant on the weekend. There have been quite a few children from the area who would come in for food (they can order just one slice of pizza or a drink). I know the parents of many of these children and believe they're doing an excellent job raising them. Their kids generally turn out more mature and responsible than their peers. It's weird that society thinks we should shelter our kids from everything, decreasing their exposure to responsibilites... yet wants children to mature at a faster rate.

I rode my bike 3 miles by myself or with my friends to the store to buy candy/model cars/etc when I was 10. That wasn't THAT long ago. I never worried about it, neither did my parents. Hell, we didn't wear bike helmets, either.

It's probably too old for some of you, but watch a Little Rascals episode... No one gave a second thought back then to a lot of things that kids were allowed to do. 50 years ago, kids were given a gun for their 13th birthday. There weren't problems with them running around, shooting up friends on accident, killing classmates, etc. Instead, they'd go out with dad or grampa hunting for rabbits or squirrels or something.

Fast forward to today: leave an 11 year old home alone and someone can report you. And, at the same time, a 12 year old is allowed to babysit 2 year old babies.

Yeah I would walk to my friends house after school which is over two miles. I would ride my bike to but comics which was a good distance down the road.....I used to go to the conveneince store by myself when I was that age and this was all in the 90's.

What is the big deal, when I was 9 years old I used to take the bus 30 miles to see my friend and I would go by myself.

When I was 5 years old I used to walk 2 miles to school by myself because I did not learn how to ride a bike until I was 7.
