i'm actually disappointed with the PS2. the EmotionEngine is, theoretically, really capable, pumping out unheard-of triangles. but this is not to be: just like the older geforce2GTS video cards, PS2 suffers extremely from memory bandwidth. this can really cripple the potential of the system. sony already screwed themselves over by creating a complex compiler that many programmers rather eat their shoes than to write for it. but despite of this, i'm still looking for Metal Gear Solid 2 to come out. it's gonna rock! but sony should be watching their back as the gamecube and xbox will be debutting in a year or so, and are guaranteed to put on some extreme competition. well, let the winner preveil at the end. obviously, there will barely be any competition against sega for their hardware cannot even come close to the gamecube/xbox. (400mhz/600mhz). most important of all, nintendo has an easy-to-use compiler=more company support=bigger library=superior system. i just can't wait 'til zelda gamecubes comes out. i've seen clips from an actual rendered scene and it's just amazing. i haven't heard much about the xbox yet, except that nvidia's taking care of its video card.
