trying to install a hard drive, i noticed afterwards that a 3d game caused my comp to crash. I thought i must have not plugged something in right, so i took vid card out, then reseated and attached cables. Then i barely brushed the edge with my hand, and something fell off!!!

it's about 1cm tall plastic cylinder 3/4 cm radius, with copper wire wound around it. the copper attaches to the board by two contacts, right next to another of the same piece.

i taped it back on, and saw no difference with it on the board or not. Now my comp crashes when i try to do anything 3d, otherwise fine.

Have you tried glue, or a rubber band?

Actually I fixed a hardrive with tape once long enough to get the data off. I was sure it wasn't going to work but it did.

Pretty sure you are going to have to solder to fix this though, or just get a new vid card, that one is kinda old.
