$2.57. Good to see there are some gas stations that are not taking advantage of customers like every other one of these greedy bastards across the country. The same price it was prior to Katrina.

Proof: http://www.floridastategasprices.com/ - Tom Thumb in Panama City.

Does this prove that this whole price jump was totally fabricated?!?! Fear based, artificial demand I say - created by a panic frenzy public.

Nope, it just means the owner is an idiot for lowering his profit margins.

lets face it when your paying 3.45 a gallon the gas you are pumping was bought months ago for probably less than 2.00 a gallon.

Its a big scam and nobody wants to do anything about it.

Wow. Someone needs to take an introductory economics class, methinks.

Are you kidding?! I fill up about every 2 days - I talk to alot of gas attendants, and you know why most of them are saying their owners are raising prices? - "Because everyone else is charging that much".

Like I said - artificial demand, and store owners taking advantage of the public panic and unrest. If stores HERE, ON THE GULF COAST can charge pre-Katrina gas prices, why can't the rest?

Yeah these gas price hikes are absolutely without reason. A friend in the government buys gasoline for $2.00/gal (buying in bulk just like gas station owners do) Sure he probably gets a hefty discount due to the fact that its for the government BUT after katrina came through and we were all paying $4.00/gal his price went down.

There are no economics to the gas prices being inflated like they were - its all greedy gasstation owners here, simple as that.

Ahh so great how people who decide not to gouge others with insane prices are considered stupid and should take "an introductory economics class".

Greed is an amazing thing isn't it?

There are no stocs in the USA capable to support the consumption of three months of normal use.
However, I agree that oil (crude oil) was bought maybe four months ago with the price of three months ago.
Profits are up to the sky, but nobody can make a thing. They sell the oil at whatever price they choose to - that is called capitalism.

I'll wager that the "introductory economics" statement was made to point out that the raised prices are an example of "What the market will bear".

People are willing to pay what gas stations are charging. <---period

Why should he have to explain why gas prices are so high. There are 3000 threads on that already!
