Well I am gonna build a system and have come up with a list of pieces. Would appreciate you shooting holes in my thoughts and let me know how I can make it better.

I use Adobe Production Premium CS3 and with my P4 3.2 and 3 GB ram, it is slow. I don't do any games just photowork and then make movies/slideshows out of them.

I am planning on OC to 3.2GHz and pushing the Ram also.

Here is my proposed system:

Gigabyte modo GA-P35-DS3R LGA 775
Intel C2Q Q6600 2.4GHz
Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme CPU Cooler
Corsair CMPSU-620HX PSU
4 GB Ram - Corsair Dominator 2GB - DDR2 1066 (PC@8500)
Antec P180B Case
XFX PVT73GUGD3 GeForce 7600GT 256MB PCI Express x16
WD Raptor 150GB Drive - 1
Samsung 500GB 7200 RPM SATA3.0Gb/s HD - 3
LITE-ON 20X DVD+R SATA Burner - 2
Windows XP Home (Selected this as this is what I am running now with no problems)

Right now, I have been looking at Newegg. I looked at Zipzoomfly, NCIXUS, and MWave also. Newegg and Zipzoomfly were about the same. NCIXUS was a little cheaper but I was leary on how long it would take to ship here.

Please comment on what I might be wasting money on or where I might do something different. Of course you know, once I get it then I will be back on OC'ing it. :)

Thanks...

Jimmy

As I keep reading I am wonering if I need to go to the 1066 memory or not? I will be overclocking it along with the cpu. I am thinking about taking the cpu to 3.4 or so...and I am very new to this and want to push the ram but not sure what is ideal when I push the cpu to 3.4. Any ideas?

Thanks..

you might want to check out one of the Quadro cards as they could greatly help rendering. Also, using XP Home will not allow you to utilize 4 gigs of ram.

I know that on XP it won't see all of the 4 GB but is it better to get 3 or get 4 and use 3.5?

I know the Quadro cards are more expensive but do they make that much of a difference? I don't have any experience on using a Quadro card. If you get a Quadro card do you need to cool it or is the P180B case fans good enough for it?

I debated going to XP64 but wasn't sure on how mature it had gotten...

Thanks...
