I dunno, maybe you should ask notfred, I learned it from him.

Besides, if it really is stupid, why did you bother to participate.

another one

You need to go back and study some more, the car in my thread was MUCH more humorous than the car in your thread :)

Does your bowel feel a bit better now that you've shat in my thread 3 times?

Oh yeah, the point of this thread is that I've hung around OT a while and every day I'm around, I hear; "hondas/imports/ricers are suck/stupid/dumb/retarded/don't know sh*t/etc."

So I made a thread asking a really simple question, how much power this basic 'ricey' car makes. Suddenly, none of the usual haters have anything to say.

well, here is the dyno

this car wasn't cherry picked by any measure, I just found it putzing around SRO.

kill list includes;

LS1 camaro SS
Viper (non GTS)
911 Turbo

a couple others I don't remember. The cost for the car was 26K total, 12K for the integra, 14K for mods (GSR swap, turbo). IMO, the car was a bargain for a kill list like that.

The entire photo gallery can be found here

Heh all I have to say is that I was exactly right, and I still am not impressed. Would you rather drive home in a teg or a porsche ?

Where these guys even aware that they were racing?

Also, when you race another car, it is only fair if they do not have a car in front of them at the stoplight.

You could make a tricycle faster than a Viper or a Porsche with $14k in mods. That same Camaro SS with $14k in mods would run 9's in the 1/4, outhandle it, etc etc. You call it a bargin - I call him a moron for spending that much money to turn an otherwise slow car into a fast one.

yeah,
like all those ricers out there have their big argument, honda civic from superstreet that runs 8s with 100G worth of mods.

For 100Gs i can get 3 pro streets '70 hemi cudas that will all runs 7s or better

hmmm 1100 hp for about half of the price

Its good to see people with good heads on their shoulders. No one ever agrees with me that buying a 10k car and putting 50k into it is pointless. If you want a fast car, buy one that is meant and built from factory to go fast.

I would much rather see a turbo 911 on the road, then some 90 honda with a tail wing that isnt high enough to do squat.

whats the fun in just buying a fast car? when you buy a slower one and make it fast it gives you something to do its like a hobby.

ps. i dont like ricers im just saying...

Why drop $10k to make a Civic DX go from a mid-16 second 1/4 time to a mid-13 second 1/4 time when you could drop $10k into something fast to make it run 9-10 second 1/4 miles along with the money you'd have left over for a total suspension overhaul, which would shred any import at any track?

ie, why make a slow car go fast when you can make a fast car go faster for less money?

at least it should have some potential, i.e rear wheel drive, not a four banger.

you can get a slow car cheaper so that gives you more money to put into it where as a faster car would be more expensive and youd be left with less money.

You mind showing me one of these tricycles?

Your example doesn't work because you are forgetting that the total cost of that integra was 26K. An LS1 SS with 14K in mods would cost around 40 grand. You can build a supra TT with matching performance for that price.

It takes more money to make a slow car fast than it does to make a fast car faster.

Doesn't mean the fast car has to be brand new.

The Integra wasn't new when he bought it. A used LT1 based Camaro/Firebird, say from 1996, would run about $14k. Drop $5k worth of mods into that car and the Integra would be seeing taillights.

All I'm saying is you can drop an @$$load of cash into any car to make it fast. You posted one example of some guy who spent more on mods than he did on the car to make it fast. What does that prove? That you're an idiot for spending that much money.

Oh yea - it may be faster than the $100k Porsche but it's still just an Integra, just like a Civic with a Type-R Spoon motor imported from Japan is still, just a Civic.

well not really, if oyu want a fast car you really need something to beginwith. 89 geo metro will be slow no matter how much money you pur into it.

I bought my talon tis/awd because of the awd (i looove rally racing :) ) I can easily get it down to 12sec with about 3G worth of parts and it will have the same power as the proffesional WRC cars

I wasn't talking about a new SS. A new SS is ~35K.

As for a moderately modded LS1 faster than that integra, probably. I didn't post this thread to make an import vs domestic fight. I made it because I see compact car/'ricer' hating here too much. I'm just showing one example of a fast 'ricer'.

You mean kind of like how a modded out camaro is still a camaro, ratty/creaky/uncomfortable interior/build quality and all?

Why do you people always fix up FWD cars that were meant to SAVE GAS? Give me $15k and you'll get the following:

95 Nissan 240SX ~$6000
SR20DET ~$2500
a stroker kit ~$4000
upgraded intercooler ~$1000
upgraded fuel system ~$800

Total: $14,300, gives you about $700 for other minor mods. You can probably get it all that for cheaper if you got hookups (and perform the labor yourself). Plus its RWD. That'll get you about 320hp to the wheels on a car that weighs around 3000lbs. Damn, all this talk about that makes me want to dish out $15k.

There's these two civics hatches that keep buzzing by my house everytime I work on my friend's 240sx. They got this big a$$ coffee can in the back but the car don't move anywhere. Funny thing is they only come by when I have the car apart. When its up and running, I don't see them anywhere.

You mean, kind of like how all the overclockers here drop hundreds, if not thousands, turning PCs into waaaaay overpriced nintendos?

I'm not saying that a FWD car is a good base to work off of. I'm saying that it does work and it's just a different way for different people. There's no need for everyone here to hate, hate and hate.

i liked the integra overall, but 26G is CRAZY for 300 hp. I can get that for 4 gs with my talon.
Or you can get a stock 95 z28, spend 5 gs on it (12g total) and it will still beat the integra
