Since he has no card atm, I don't see how waiting is in his best interest, unless he just doesn't game much. It could be until next year before there is an improvement over the 780 from AMD.

I don't know how it is possible to be able to write without the ability to read.

Wow, the specs on the AMD card look well ahead of the 780, however I was under the impression nothing new is coming until 2014?

bystander...

And that is why I mentioned AMD won't likely have something better until next year. If they do a refresh in August, it won't likely be a Titan/780 killer.

That said, I guess he might as well wait until he plans to game. Then again, he has mentioned different gaming interests in different posts.

If your going to game at all get the 780 now, you can always sell it when the AMD cards come out if they prove to be fast.

No, quite the opposite. I guess my double-negative was confusing. 😀

What I meant to say was you have no reason to get a card now when you can wait for the new cards to come out, whenever that may be. You said it yourself, you don't plan on gaming anytime soon. So wait it out and see what happens. By that time, if the next flagship AMD card doesn't give you the e-boner you're looking for, the GTX 780 may have dropped in price.

Huh? That is basically exactly what I said. ::shrugs::
Moot now anyway as he sold his 7970.

I have been thinking alot today, and I am really about to push the order button on this
EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Superclocked ACX
http://www.legitreviews.com/article/2206/1/

I know I said wouldn't be gaming much, there are a few games I havent played yet that I can play.
I also bought a new G19s Keyboard and a G930 Wireless Headset, so I would like to test that out.

It sure is expensive, but it is faster than 7970Ghz and in some tests it even beats the Titan. I also got $400 for my 7970 which will save me alot of money on the GTX780.

I'd say, if you were fortunate enough to get 400 bucks for a used 7970, think of that as a gift toward whatever you want. It absorbs much of the sticker shock of a 780. I say why not. Have the coin? Go for it. If you have extensive doubts, which I doubt because you've already committed the sale of your 7970, but if you do, just wait until AMD releases their next gen or refresh. whatever it is.

If you're not in a rush and can play games with your current rig then wait. However there have been rumours that an 8xxx range of cards may just be a rebranding attempt and so may not sport significantly higher performance.

Maybe I should just wait until the end of August since I probably wont be doing any gaming before that anyway.

If you aren't going to be gaming until end of August, no point in buying a new GPU now. There could be price drops, something faster from AMD (or forces price drops on NV), or better after-market GTX780 cards such as GTX780 Lightning.

Wait and see what happen next, i think DX11.1 or 11.1 is smarter choice for Next-Gen Gaming almost every next gen game will Use DX 11.1 (BattleField 4 , WatchDogs and more...) So AMD will be better choice For the future. Greets

One of the points with this thread was to see if someone else knew something more about the upcoming cards from AMD. When I read the rumors it seems like the new cards from AMD would be a beast compared to Titan

It's all early rumors at this point. Nothing is concrete and don't expect to see anything until fall.

The rumors only really get accurate when it comes within a few weeks of release. So otherwise, nobody knows.

I thought OP post was a joke.
But if you're serious, 20nm 350-400mm2 HDx970 should beat Titan handily,
but anything close to those specs is at least 1 year away from release.
More likely two+.

I could be wrong with this prediction, but I doubt AMD will beat Titan on 28nm, simply because I don't see them releasing 450mm2 GPU anytime soon.
And even then it wouldn't be beast compared to Titan, not to mention NVIDIA could squeeze another 10% with hypothetical Titan Ultra.

Those specs with 4000+ stream processors have no credibility to them. The only way this is possible is on 20nm but there is no chance in the world AMD will release a 20nm flagship card in the next 3-4 months considering that on many occasions AMD has stated HD7970GE is the fastest card for all of 2013. 20nm cards from both camps were always expected in 2014. Whoever started this rumor that 20nm cards will be out in 2013 seems to be making stuff up unless we are talking about paper launching in December 2013.
