Nice, Surround with 2 dvi and hdmi. Which probably means no tearing. No way I'm going to pay $550 for a card though. I'll wait for the eventual cut down gtx 670 and hopefully a price at $400 or under.

Is it okay now to pay $550 for a mid-range card? :awe:

Go Premiums! 🙂

Any word on length? Won't matter since the case I gave her was retro-fitted for a HD 5870. So unless it's 12 inches, like me 😉, it'll fit 😀 haha.

Even if these cards are 10% across the board faster than a 7970, if they manage to do that with this die size, would make me loathe to buy them with the GK110 coming. ()🙂

When anand has their review up I am hoping there will be some mention of future products. I don't mind to wait until the fall for a 500mm2 die x2 setup with this sort of perf/mm2 😉

I'll wager they're going to make you wait a long while. Probably validate, test stockpile and go through tons of driver QA testing til they have a reason to launch that part. IF they even do. Nvidia reps already said this was it for the 600's and a gk104 dual board would be the top-end to challenge New Zealand. GK110 when timing is right for the GTX780. They probably have more PM this way. If it comes out, they you're going to be absolutely correct about 'fall' timeframe

To think theres a GK100/110 in a test lab somewhere right now with this kind of performance. What a shame.

I was worried about this, for people like me this means we won't get our cheap upgrade for a very long time, since GK100/110 is what we'd all probably want to snag for around $200... That's not going to happen until 880 hits... Which is maxwell, ugh.. Terrible.

Yeah I noticed. I don't see any mention of price or how much it's ripping off people when it it's even cheaper to make than the 7970. R&D only cost like $5 anyway right?

I doubt we'll see any flak. With nVidia now giving their blessing to the new perf/price situation - magically it is more than acceptable and expect the "TAKE MY MONEY" memes to get posted around haha.

Either way, WTB GTX 670! 😀

Yeah, a 670 is looking very appealing. Although that HP 27inch IPS on the AT front page is also very drool worthy. Can't get both though.

Actually, it kinda sucks cuz they have no reason to launch 110 now. ugh

Sure they will, but it will probably be oriented towards the compute/professional market (1:2 FP) and probably won't offer a very good price/performance compared to the GK104. I'd guess that it will still be faster than the GK104, just so that NV still has the fastest single card solution in come next winter.

AMD only hope will be if GTX 680 does not oc as high and maybe they have been holding drivers improvements till now to counter Nvidias new toy.

With that power consumption and performance Nv has a winner

I thought you already had a 7950 on the way. 🙂

My boss got it in on express shipping and told me I had to pay 50% of the shipping costs. Which is pretty high when it's coming from Taiwan to Namibia. So I cancelled the order. Still have the cash might just get a 7870 and a better monitor.

Get the twin frozr version of gtx680 when it comes out, and then sell it to me when you upgrade to GK110.

Hopefully the GTX680 will drive down some of those AMD prices shortly, although it won't do much for your shipping situation. 😉

It's more like $6.23. Don't forget they had an extra team of engineers dedicated to making Kepler more efficient.

Nothing is for certain at this point, but with power consumption and temps being lower than the hd7970 (at least in these tests), it bodes well that gtx680 will have OC headroom.

I have a really strong feeling we are about to see a one-ups-man-ship game between Nvidia and AMD. I think two things are going to happen: AMD is going to drop hd7970 and hd7950 prices by $50, and (like everyone suspects) bring a "gigahertz XT edition" hd7970 @ 1075-1100mhz market really, really soon and price it at $550. Then Nvidia will respond with a higher clocked gtx680 and 4gb of ram standard.

No magic drivers are coming down the pike. AMD is not on the ropes. AMD is being administered a standing 8 count after taking a right hook to the chin.

Sorry do disappoint you, but GK100/110 probably doesn't exist as you imagine it.

In theory a 2304 SP would hit near 300W, which is outrageous for a single gpu card. Think more than GF100 power consumption and heat output, and a very high price.

If the chip does exist it's probably just on paper and it will not see the light of day unless there is a 20nm shrink, which is very unlikely before 2013.

The most you will get on 28nm is 2xGK104 slightly down clocked to fit a 350W envelope.

Nah, I really think AMD is fine. Nvidia might have the better chip overall, but MSRP's are so much higher with new cards that AMD was PLENTY of wiggle room to drop prices and still swim in profits.
