Good thing it's EVGA and not NV. If it were NV, if the bumpgate laptop replacement fiasco was any indication, you'd get a HD4870 10 years from now as your replacement. ;)

hey blastingcrap, :)

Kinda missed ya bud,

rebadge or refresh?

What up homie g.

And honestly I have no idea if rebadge or refresh; all I care about now is 28nm. I waiting for NV to have 3-monitor-in-one-GPU support so I can ditch Eyefinity, but unfortunately it looks like I'll have to wait till 28nm for that to happen. AMD messed up my Eyefinity hotkeys with their horrid new driver interface.

My avatar predated yours by so many months, it's not even funny, you copycat. :p

There's a very slim line here between this and the 6770.

The 560, clocked at the same speed as the 460, will perform exactly the same --- correct? And according to the graphs and charts I have seen, it will have nearly the same power draw at the same clock. That tells me they are the same chips that went into the 460, just matured even more for higher clocks and the improved Nvidia memory controller (and that's not apart of the chip, is it?).

And this is considered a refresh --- which I agree, this is a refresh. But to call this a refresh and the 6770 a re-badge is really cutting it close, because I am sure AMD has similarly improved the manufacturer process of the 5770 chips over a year and a half's time.

Incorrect, not even close.
You take the hsf off the 6770, you have the same Barts gpu, information stamped on that gpu is the same as the 5770.
The gtx 560 uses a gf114 gpu. Wafer production was stopped on g104, and new transistor, and enhancements were put in to production and its why they are gf114. Then tested and rated for higher clocks / new TDP. None of those steps are done on a re-badge. You may have a Barts die made the 3rd week of 2010 for all purposes.

AMD’s Radeon HD 6770 & Radeon HD 6750: The Retail Radeon 5700 Rebadge
It was perhaps a foolish hope that these shenanigans would remain in the OEM market, as so far AMD has continued to keep the 5770 and 5750 even after the rest of Northern Islands has launched. But here we are, out with the old and in with the old: the 5770 and 5750 are getting rebadged in retail. Say hello to the Radeon HD 6770 and Radeon HD 6750.

Is this the thread where the links to 560 are supposed to be? Where we are to discuss it relative to the rest of the cards in the market place?

refresh that doesnt really need to happen why dont they just simply drop the price of the gtx560ti and drop the price of the gtx570 this way our gtx580 can be $350 to outshine anything amd has to offer besides their hoover vacuum cleaner of a card dubbed"6990" but no they wouldnt do that they just put out more pointless cards i know they might save the consumer money but still you save $50 lose maybe 5% performance?guess which card might sell more?

are there any clock for clock comparisons around of the gtx460 and 560? Just curious.
Made me wonder too, so I decided to try finding two with similar clocks and comparing them quickly.

http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/foru...8-msi-geforce-gtx-460-1gb-hawk-review-15.html
GTX 460 clocked at 915/4220
43.97 avg, 35 min

http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/foru...3366-nvidia-geforce-gtx-560-1gb-review-8.html
GTX 560 clocked at 925/4200 (bottom chart, the asus)
48.55 avg, 35 min

Granted the reviews are a couple months apart so driver revisions could play a role, I don't remember any driver revisions between now and then affecting Battlefield BC2's performance though.

with so many sites doing similar reviews, you think at least one of them would have done a clock-to-clock comparison to stand out

Yeah, not a rebadge... A refined 460 maybe, in that it's the same specs (except for frequency).

People could argue, that a 460 overclocked is just as good and till prices settled they might be right.

Whomever says it's just a rebadge or arguing against it being a refresh is probably just again doing a tit-for-tat.
The 560 will overclock a little bit better, but the GTX 460 continues to be a great deal considering everything.

The thing is, if I were spending $200 on a GPU right now, I would want 2gb of VRAM on it. I'm surprised at the lack of 2gb nVidia cards right now.

I'll bet you that if [H] gets their hands on one they will. nVidia probably doesn't want it done. Just like they didn't want the 470 compared to the 460FTW.
