i think you missed some of the conversation, we were talking about 1920x1080 res.
So you do think you need 2gb of ram for this res. or is 1gb sufficient?
If we now need 2gb of ram for 1080P, what game was the turning point? Did I miss something?

I have been told up until about 2 weeks ago that no modern card at 1920x1080 4xAA needs more then 1 gb of ram for todays games. True or false?

How about you read his whole post? You said never, we say under certain situations.

Yes it is.

You said there was not sufficient vram to run games with 4xAA.
If you run out of ram fps plummet to crap, and unplayable frame rates, we all know this.

"Thats not even on enthusiast. Metro2033 and stalker and AVP will easily go over 1GB at 1920x1080 with 4xAA.
Or are you gonna tell me no one who will buy a gtx560 will play with AA? Crysis 2 could very well use more than 1gb at that res. Happy was wrong when he said it would never use more than 1gb of ram, no need to make excuses for him."

And certainly doubt that a single GTX 560 will be able to play Crysis with AA at such resolution or AvP or even Metro 2033, even with 2GB of VRAM, there's not enough GPU power.

We are talking about 1920x1080 res.

Did you see what he wrote in my post?

OK we all know the gtx560 will be as fast as the gtx470 AT LEAST.

Seems playable to me......

And yet, can't beat the HD 6870. . . and the GTX 470 performance is more linear and predictable, the GF104 performance is more erratic, so sometimes may match the GTX 470 in the best case scenario, and sometimes might loose even against the HD 5830.

I didn't miss anything. You should pay careful attention to what I wrote before making such accusations.

We don't need 2GB of RAM for 1080p so don't twist my words, but 2GB will prove to be better, especially for Crossfire setups. Don't be passive aggressive. I can see exactly what you're doing here - passive-aggressively attacking the 6900 cards and its advocates via the VRAM justification.

What are you talking about? I think you need to read the whole thread?
This discusson is about 1920x1080 resolution and 1gb of memory, not which card is faster.

Doesn't matter if the GTX 560 comes with 2GB of VRAM, it won't be enough to outperform the HD 6950 1GB. If you want, buy the 2GB slower card, at 1680x1050, certainly smart buyers will buy the faster one. :)

I just read through this chain of dialogue between you and happy medium, as well as the dialogue that was going on prior to you interjecting yourself into the discussion, and its pretty obvious you are just trolling here...knock it off.

ok, I'm still lost.. 560 vs 6950? This is not a amd vs nvidia thread.

I haven't seen all the specs, is it going to have 1.25 gb ram like gtx 470 or will it be limited to just 1gb?

The 6950 still will have the advantage of 2GB RAM and Eyefinity. Just going off that performance chart I'd say it'll have a price of $259.99 or so.

LOL, anyone with 3 like LCD and 1 6950 for eyefinity needs their head read...FPS are a joke!

Did it say it is not enough for that res or did I say there are cases where it is exceeded. Read my whole post before replying will you. Comprehension skills man. Very important.

Same thing, if you exceed the ram its unplayable.
Right? right!

Fact is 1920x1080 does not need more then 1gb of ram.
Fact is any mid range card like the 6950/gtx560 will not have the gpu power to use more then 1 gb of ram. If it does the games framerates are unplayable anyway.

Now like I said from the beginning, 2gb is not good for anything but eyefiniy/surround or 2500x1600 monitors.

So for single card users with single monitors @ 1900x1080, the gtx560 and 1gb 6950 should be all you need. If you plan on doing sli or crossfire @ 1900x1080, 1gb cards will work just as well as a 2gb card.

When using surround/eyeinfinity or @2500x1600, 2gb is where its at.

So basically nothing has changed from a few months ago.?

No, just look back at the 4870 512mb vs 1gb reviews. I don't really need to explain some of this basic stuff to you do I?

You know what? can you find a single quote of me saying 1GB is not enough for 1920x1080?

I dont think its worth $279 when you can buy a gtx460 1gb for $150. the gtx560 is probably already close to its limit and likely wont oc more than 25mhz over the typical max oc on a gtx460. so really its only going to come down to a 15-20%(at most) difference if someone was to oc both the gtx460 and gtx560.

I think he was just playing games, in another article he was holding 299 in his hand.
