Thanks I would love to see those results.

Did you try to go past the 1.087 voltage limitation yet?

Negative, i left it at 1.05. I figured 900Mhz was good enough and id be lucky if my second card could even do that. It was my plan all along to go SLI but money was a issue and just got the finds for the second card last week.

900Mhz 1.05v MSI cyclone with lapped stock cooler and GPU and AS 5 paste.

When my MSI hawk shows up in a coule of days ill post with those results.
Hawk at 780MHz or is it the Hawk Talon Attack at 810MHz?

I have the Talon Attack and it a great overclocker. 900Mhz+ should is doable at stock voltage & auto fan speed.

Talons are hand picked chips that is rumored to be able to reach 1Ghz. Not too fair to include in this survey. my regular 460 does 869@1.05v. Another thing is the Talon is like $220 at that price I'd get a GTX 470 after rebate for about maybe 10 more and OC that which will be faster than even a 950+ talon 460.

Yes I did get the 1000 core with voltage manipulation. It is great for bragging rights, but I didn't see any different in gaming at 950Mhz. Therefore 950 is what I left it at for general usage.

Screenshots or it didn't happen. :whiste:

Price dropped a week or 2 after I got the Hawk TA, but today I would definitely go for the 470 at the price that I paid for the 460 HTA.

Good poll. Wow it looks like them 460's are oc demons! But too late for me! Earlier today I just picked up a brand new Asus 6850 for $140 from a friend. But I was ready to get a 460 until the friend offered me his new 6850 (because he had a change of heart and wanted to go gtx570).

Its the regular hawk(780Mhz)

I got it for $180 after rebate, The talon attack was going to be $30 more from my local retailer.

Honestly i was going to go for the Cyclone as i never go for the OC editions as i think they are a rip off, especially for a highly OC'able chip like the 460. So I prefer to take the gamble and OC myself but the hawk was actually cheaper thant he Cyclone.

Just for you guys who want to sli, newegg has the gtx 460 Hawk for 179$ and 20$ rebate.
159$ shipped is dirt cheap for this card.
Should easily get over 850 core, hd6870+ speeds.

hmmm that's a good price if you don't mind the rebates
but I'm in CA and that's another 9+% tax on $180. (lol tax is a major deal breakers for lots of Calfornians).
Oh stop posting good deals dude, you're making me 2nd guess my 6850 decision! I haven't oc' this Asus 6850 yet, but I'm gonna be one disappointed guy if I can't get 6870 speed out of it!

You should be happy with your 6850 for the price you got it for. Asus is a good brand too, I'm sure it'll OC well...

As for the 460, what is the stock voltage? Mine came stock at 1.087v, but is that higher than reference?

850 core 1700 shader 2200 memory on stock volts less than 70 degrees C on load for the 460 1gb sonic I got from MC...pretty good for $169.59 including tax plus $30 MIR

Wow, a lot of GTX 460's aren't even hitting 900MHz with voltage now? Yikes.

You just made a negative out of gtx460's that aren't overclocking 33% beyond the reference speed with voltage adjustment. I've seen it all.

Thats a nice overclock for 140$, real nice temps too and on stock voltage, you lucky dog you.

Max I've tried was 890/1782/1960 @ 1.13mv. I didn't want to push it though, last time I did that the card ended up dead in 3 months 🙂
I've settled to leave it at 840/1680/1900 @ 0.975mv, at least until that crappy stock fan dies. Card is a Zotac 460 768mb, runs at a max of 60C in BFBC2:V but sounding like a leaf blower at the same time (gotta love Afterburner and the fan settings!). Stock volt OC was 810/1620/1900, and the stock core clock was 720. Pretty decent for a $140 CAD card 😀

I just got my EVGA gtx 460 1GB SC up to FTW speeds, 850/1700/2000 with no other adjustments and I'm pretty happy to leave it there.

So far the poll is telling me 830 no voltage and 880+ with voltage are very good possibilities.

There are a few people that voted for 810 and 820 , that don't even have a gtx460.
