This motherboard has a different chipset than the other, so the issue may be with that particular chipset (this is a newer generation).
But still, I would find it strange that an nVidia GPU would not work with an nVidia chipset.

That's why my guess would be that it's something in the MSI motherboard... either a design flaw in the hardware somewhere, or a problem with the BIOS.

Agree, very strange, no matter that I had a "double equation" in this situation (Nvidia-Nvidia, Msi-Msi), compatibility problem arised. Nothing is sacred these days :)

Yea, especially with OEMs that is no guarantee. MSI just sticks chips on a board and modifies the supplied BIOS a tad (optionally).
I would recommend pairing Intel CPUs and Intel chipsets though... and AMD CPUs with AMD chipsets. Not because they're the same brand... but because Intel generally builds the best chipsets... and since Intel doesn't build chipsets for AMD platforms, AMD's own chipsets are generally the best alternative (although in the distant past, nVidia was better).

Other than that, it really doesn't matter imho... Pairing Intel systems with AMD videocards, pairing AMD systems with nVidia cards... no problem. AMD's 'platform' is just pure marketing. An nVidia card works just as well with an AMD system.

It's the power supply that thing is a POS, only 264 watts from the 12v line is bad it's really only good for about 300 watts. And before you purchase a new power supply seek out some advice on what to get.

soon as I read your thread I went straight to see what PSU you were using too as Nirreln posted. You have some nice gear but you trust it too a Cooler master?
