Hey guys,
I really dont have any idea what PSU to get.
I have specs to the computer that im going to build but the PSU is left out.
Can you help me to pick one out or suggest some ideas.

E8400
4gb GSkill 1066
GTX260
EP45-DS4
1 DVD RW
3 SATA II hds.
4 FANS.
Two UV neons.

Thanks heaps.

Corsair 550W would work too, as would a whole lot of PSUs from other companies. Antec True Power Trio 550W and 650W, Neo Power 650W, EarthWatts 650W. BFG LS-550 and LS-680. Plenty of others.

What you want to look for are at least two PCIe power plugs and at least 36A on the +12v rail(s) (remember that you can't just "add up" multiple rails). Other than that, look for quality.

Hmm the Neopower aint to bad and neither is the 750tx.
Is there any other modular PSUs or normal ones that I can take into account?
Also in the future I might end up getting a new m/b and running SLI...

If you are definately considering two GTX 260 in your future, then you'll want a PSU that has four PCIe power plugs and you probably want at least 50A or more on the combined +12v. This means at least a 650W PSU and closer to 700W+. Looking at NVIDIA's SLI Zone site, the lowest wattage PSU that NVIDIA certifies for two GTX 260 is 800W. They are being somewhat conservative in their ratings so if you run a slim system (not doing massive quadcore overclocking or huge arrays of hard drives) then you may be fine with lower wattage units.

The PCP&C 750 is on that list as well, so between that and the BFG 800 (get the right one - one doesn't have the right SLI connex) you can't go wrong.

I must not have scrolled far enough down to see the PCP&C. 😱

For the BFG PSU, the "proper" one to get is the ES-800 model (the one with the one big fan) and NOT the older 800W model with 80mm fans.

Thanks for that addition, Zap ! I had read a Newegg comment on it while looking at it and wanted to make sure that a prospective buyer didn't just jump on the first BFG 800w PSU that they found for a good price.

Well I think I have made a decision. The PCP&P is a great PSU and same with the BFG but I cant find anywhere in Australia thats selling it. Im going to go with the TX650. Or TX750. EIther one of them.

i bought the pc power and cooling only because all 4 PCI express rails are seperate, where as the corsair combines 2 of the PCI rails into one inside the PSU. read that i think on toms hardware or another similar site that took the corsair all apart and examined it.
