Did anyone else have to take out their hard drive rack at the bottom of their midsize case to fit a GTX 770 or GTX 780 ?

I had to remove mine to fit my 770,its a gateway dx series case from around 2008 that i modded with a few fans,i installed the ssd which is my only drive where the spare dvd rom opening was at inside the case and it works very well.:)

Looking to buy a Rosewill Line-M case soon.

Yeah same here. It is ok though my hard drive was in the above rack only by two SATA hard drives were down below. WD Raptor 150 GB 10,000 rpm SATA and Hitachi 500 GB 7200 rpm SATA.

I am glad my GTX 770 runs great on my 500 watt power supply. Was worried.

I had issues with my old cx500 and my 770,ended up having to buy the tx650 before i had a rock solid system.Ended up having to use my spare 1280x1024 monitor for a couple weeks and enabling vsync with reduced settings so i could enjoy my card still without it pushing my cx500 till i got a proper replacement lol.

Yeah but what were all your other system specs ? How many other extra hardware did you have too ?

It may be the way I connected it all together.

Played Left 4 Dead 2 and Simcity 5 fine for a few hours. Then Battlefield 3 for 3 hours.

Same specs that are in my Sig.The cx500 is regarded as a budget psu and it is nearly a year old so perhaps it suffered degradation but i had issues ranging from poor framerate to system locks, you could smell the psu cooking right before it locked my system lol.

Yeah I agree that the cx500 is regarded as a budget psu. Though I keep reading from people that it has like 750 watts. I think they are crazy though. I found it really surprising someone would say that. Don't worry I bought it before I ever read that. I knew it didn't have 750 watts.

Single 180gb Intel 520 series ssd,for the games and applications i have its about all i need currently.

Ok. I don't know what to tell you then. I do know I had the CX200 for 2 years and it has ran flawlessly.

That is with my i5 2500k overclocked to 4 Ghz.

I would love to test how many watts my system uses from the wall if possible. Though I am not sure how. I know it would be pretty high though at peak load! Idle not so much.

I can't complain about the cx500,it was solid while i wasn't pushing that 770,maybe it was starting to weaken and fail and the 770 simply was to much, dropping in the tx650 immediately fixed every issue i did have.

Corsair has been good to me and i won't drop the cx500 from my recommendation list as i would easily recommend to anyone who wants to run a moderate system to pick up a cx500.

Yeah. I don't think my system is that high end. Now if I were to add a i7 then I would upgrade my power supply.

Though who needs a i7 when your mostly gaming ?

Sorry I forgot to say my Geforce GTX 770 I guess is overclocked too but it came that way. It is the OC version. So I am guessing that uses more power too.

Can't you get little Power Supplies for other devices in your computer if you ever need more power or do they not work well ?

Not sure,if i recall years ago Amd had some sort of external power supply unit that you plug in directly to your card, saw this thing at frys and thought it was a gimmic.

Ok thanks.

I thought about it some more and maybe my case helps. I don't know lol. Lian-Li PC-60 midtower all aluminum. So I guess that helps a lot with heat.

How many case fans do you have btw ?

2,a rear 80mm antec 3 speed on high and a noctua 140mm on high on the side,140mm is good for 64cfm and actually helps keep the 770 very cool, rarely load over 72 cel and often times sit under 70cel.

Yeah my GTX 770 4 GB sits at 39 to 40 C idle and 60 to 65 C load.

Really good load temperatures,my case is pretty small and i am sure the rear 80mm fan with its pathetic max cfm rating of 34cfm is to blame for the load temps but strangely my idle temps sit usually around 33-34 after 20 mins of being out of a game,if the tower idles overnight the idle temps drop as low as 23 cel, this is according to Afterburner history over the course of 13 hours uptime.

Yeah my case is pretty small too. I do have 4 case fans though.

Two in front. One at top and one in the back. If you include the power supply fan then 5.
