GTX 570HD 2.5GB SLI or GTX 680?

At 2560x1440 I can get 2 570HD's with 2.5GB and run SLI for about $600. The new GTX 680 I'm sure is going to cost around that much as well. Will a GTX 680 be as fast as the 570's in SLI from what people have gathered about them so far?

680 for sure man. I like single card much better than multi. Some folks like more than 1 gpu, but not I.

I'd rather have a 680 or 7970 than any sli or xfire. (except for xfire 7970 or sli 680s) heheh.

The sli 570's are going to be quite faster than the GTX680, but custom cards usually command a very large premium. Anyways, looks like Nvidia won't manage to phase out Fermi that quickly, so waiting for Kepler and then getting the best deals would be preferable, if you don't have to upgrade right now. Also, any reason you're ignoring AMD? Their products seem to fit your needs slightly better(have more vram), unless you need CUDA.

Currently, the 680 is rumored to perform around 20-30% faster than the 580. A 570 is ~85% of a 580. What kind of moon logic makes 85%*1.8 be slower than 130%?

wow man. ever tested 460 sli to a 480, 560 sli to a 580, or 5770CF to 5870?

I find it difficult to enjoy 120% multi-gpu performance over 100% single gpu. It is so much worse with two mid grade gpus

Dude, there's like NO concrete information on Kepler and the 680 from any reliable source to make a decision like this.

I mean... seriously this thread is premature until Anandtech puts up the review.

This is a subforum that's meant to help people with inquiries about GPU and monitor purchases, since this is where posters who are savvy about these subjects hang out.

By speculating on the performance on an as of yet unreleased card with (and let's be honest here) unknown performance, and recommending such a product to a member with a honest dilemma, you may be failing him and his trust in a community that's supposed to be the top of it's craft.

We have exactly one use on this forum, let's not screw that up; You are not doing Zod any favors by recommending him a product of unknown quality.

So you tested 7970 to 560 sli and liked the 560 sli better? Interesting.

I hate CF/SLI. Sadly, I used to champion it like sliced bread, so I shouldn't judge. More power to you. You are going to get the extra 20% on your framerate counter after all.

I'm guessing you didn't overclock the 7970 and aren't bothered by microstuttering? If so, stick with your 560ti's, you neither the 680 nor sli 570 will be a meaningful upgrade.

A 25% Oced 7970 equals 6950 cf plus minus. I used that logic to state that if an overclocked 680 is a bit faster it would nearly equal 570 sli. Else just go for 7970 and overclock it 570 is just like 10-15% faster than 6950

570 SLI would likely be faster but also run hotter and it's not as good as a single GPU.

Xfire with the 7970's was atrocious at launch. Its gotten alittle better now
