Gtx 560ti dying

I just bought a r9 280. My cpu is a q9550. How much bottleneck will I have or if any?

It's impossible to say because it depends on the game and settings you use. If you are playing WoW or Shogun 2, you will be CPU limited by a lot, but also GPU limited compared to say a 980. If you are playing Crysis 3, you will also be CPU and GPU limited. If you are playing Torchlight 2 or Trine 2, well you get the picture. Overall, there is nothing better for gaming than R9 280/280X/290 in the $140-250 space, which means among your choices, you did pretty good.

For your next upgrade though, you should definitely consider a change to the Skylake platform or newer. Your Q9550 @ 3.4Ghz won't be good enough for next generation GPUs.

Thanks for the reply I was going to build a haswell but I'm just going to hold off and wait for skylake.
