Ok, so I am thinking about upgrading to a GTX 480 and just wanted the forums opinion on the matter. My rig and basic specs are below. Just curious as to how much of an improvement I would see in the games I am currently running (FarCry 2, DA:O, Force Unleashed; Bioshock 1&2) etc.). Would I need to worry about any bottleneck issues? Thanks for any info/thoughts you can throw my way.

Rig:
Q9550 @ 3.4 GHz (8.4 x 400FSB)
8gb Ram
Maximus Formula (x38) flashed to Rampage Formula
9800GX2
HP w2207h Monitor (1680 x 1050 res.; I game at this resolution)

well at just 1680 you arent going to fully push a gtx480 in some games without an overclocked i5/i7 quad but certainly nothing to worry about. at that res its almost overkill but there are games like Metro 2033 where you need all the gpu power you can muster if trying to push the settings. personally I would recommend a 5850 and overclock it unless insane noise, power draw and heat dont bother you. after my experience with a gtx470 I cant even imagine putting up with a gtx480.

470 is the better value purchase for your setup. If you want the best from the green team, then the 480 is your only choice of course.

Update: I have a dedicated PSU for the video card and my case is an Antec 1200 w/ six 120mm fans and one 200mm fan. So in terms of powering the card and airflow I am good to go.
