I ran across these today and thought it was worth sharing. Solid looking card, no backplate though. I've come to like them.. no matter I suppose.

I like the heatsink and the fan design. How much do the back cuts on the PCB add to airflow?

Probably only a small percentage of total airflow coming in through the slots; I'm curious if they'll help with noise levels though, perhaps changing/lowering pitch or lowering turbulence? All in all a solid looking card. Looks like a very high quality heatsink.

Agreed, it does look like a good cooler. Both ATI and NVIDIA really have been putting solid reference coolers on their high end cards for a while now. They both really stepped up during the 7900GTX/X1950XT era with better, quieter cooling.

Nice pictures! This should all be in 1 thread. Am too lazy to read 8 threads on the same card.

Awesome pics. The components on the PCB are very neatly laid out. But that fan is made by Delta :\ (hopefully it wont sound like a Tornado)

I really like that heatsink. Looks like they bought into the heatpipe direct touch trend, and I like it.

no that's the actual die. look at the edges of the die, you can see the resin based material which allows the die to expand and contract on board without fracturing and holding it in place at the same time. if you look at PCB shots of the GTX280 you will see it's also quite huge

ed: to the post above, you realize that the article was about the first die shots of fermi right?

Yeah, thats a serious heatsink.

Doesnt look like its making that good contact though. Looks like only 3 of the heat pipes have any pressure on the heatspreader and then only in the middle.

lol @ GT's pick, classic. I remember my first delta for my Athlon Thunderbird, back when high powered computers doubled as space heaters!
