I think you're considering one because you are a huge Nvidia fan but just don't admit it. What would a GTX480 get you? The same performance and probably damn near the same power use/heat as what you have now?
You were on AMD's ass on these forums when the 5870 launched because they sold out at the launch and AMD sold a lot of cards to Dell. Yet here we are well past Fermi's unvieling without a card at any etailer/retailer. But every chance you get you are defending Nvidia.
Well I do wonder how the power usage stacks up between my current 2X280s V 480.
I have been running them off a 750W PSU for over a year now, in a warm climate. My Kill-A-Watt gets to 580w from the wall durning intense gaming.
If I could get around the same performance and a little less heat output for the summer months, and move to a single-GPU setup, that would be nice. DX11 is not important to me, although I do play BF:BC2 ~ 1hr/day.
But then I think that there will be a 512sp version and the AMD "islands" hybrid by the end of the year, and I think it is smarter to wait.
Then tweakboy gets me excited with the GTX5806970, and now I
really dont know what I should do.
