Could someone post the bench numbers here, I cant get to the site.

Crysis Warhead DX10 / 19x12 / Enthuusiast / 4xMSAA:
5870: 41.41 / 30.22 / 19.60 (Max / Avg / Min FPS)
GTX470 30.60 / 25.53 / 18.62

Same, but 8xMSAA:
5870: 37.87 / 23.44 / 4.96
GTX47 29.21 / 23.03 / 15.63

DiRT2 DX11 19x12 / Ultra 8xMSAA:
5870: 59.2 / 51.9 (Avg / Min)
GTX470: 53.8 / 41.6

Unigine DX11 / 19x12 / High / 4xMSAA / 16xAF
5870: 27.1 / 683 (FPS / Source)
GTX470: 29.2 / 734

I don't know what 'source' means in that bench, but that's what it says. i7 @ 3.2GHz, 6GB memory.

Then the other bench shown on a different system is just 3DMark06, 1280x1024 on the E8190 w2GB of memory it scores 13264 3DMarks.

If those FPS numbers are true than I expect us to be underwhelmed by Fermi...

If they are accurate, its only faster in synthetic benchmarks. . . smells like a FX 5800

this basically says "Free jump from 4MSAA to 8MSAA on the 470". look, no hit at all. that just seems weird.

The radeon 5870 is faster, but the minimum frame rate of the gtx470 is Crysis Warhead is either neck and neck with the 5870 or, with cranked up visuals, noticeably better. I've always considered minimum frame rates more important than average frame rates, but unfortunately for the gtx470 the average and minimums are still too low to be considered playable, IMO.

I've experienced some low hits with higher aa in some cases. Maybe not too odd?

Oh man.. those numbers are horrendous.

Edit: Well I misread maximum as average. So I guess 470 more or less matches 5870. It's still not what I hoped it to be.

This should not be a surprise. We knew the 470 was going to be closer to the 5850 in performance. If this was a 480 then we we could claim epic failure! What is interesting is NV's #2 card is able to beat ATI's #1 (single GPU) card in minimum frame rate at 8x msaa.

This looks like it will be a repeat for the GT200 vs 4000 series battle. NV with slightly faster cards and much higher prices. Unfortunitly I expect NV to price it's cards based on current street prices for ATI cards which will put no downward pressure on prices. Looks like were in for another stretch of overpriced video cards.

Well, looking at those games they tested the 470 looks to be 10-15% slower in average FPS than a 5870. Depending on how it's priced and it's availability it could still be a decent card... though it looks like it'll be around 5850 performance.

But, it hardly looks like it's worth a 6 month wait compared to the 58xx cards. But then again, we're assuming these numbers are accurate... I remember some numbers showing the 5870 being faster than a GTX295 before it launched, we all know how that panned out.

Have to wait for accurate pricing information. Knowing the performance without the price it will sell at is completely worthless knowledge. Vice versa is true as well.

Dont see this as a bad thing. This is the 2nd tier card competing with the top tier card from ATI.

The 5870 is ATI's 2nd tier card. Anyone trying to say the 5970 isn't a real card or doesn't count because it is multi-gpu is grasping at straws.

Doesn't matter if there's no cards to sell.

It's all but certain Nvidia isn't going to order any more A3 silicon and B1/2 is long months into the future.

I'm just going to wait for launch to see if the rumored manufacturing trouble with Fermi is true or not.

If this is priced at the 5850 then it will be an awesome card. If this is priced at the 5870 then it will be a toss up.

I was talking about the GTX 480 card, that card are you talking about?

470 and 480. All information points to there being a really tiny supply of them, but I'm going to play the wait and see game just to be sure before passing judgement.

If this is priced at the 5850 then it will be an awesome card. If this is priced at the 5870 then it will be a toss up.

It is almost certainly more expensive to make than the 5870.

Hot from the CeBit in Hannover, Germany:

http://translate.google.com/transla...rce-GTX-470-enthuellt-946411.html&sl=de&tl=en

heise.de is the news portal of a major german (tech) magazine publisher.

Those Dx11 numbers are disappointing... I really wanted a beast at that so I could convince myself to upgrade :).

They seem to confirm (if correct) that Fermi is only better at tessellation if nothing much else is going on in the scene. From those numbers (mind you the translation leaves something to be desired) seems the 470 fits between the 5870 and 5850 in every test but low AA unigine. Can't wait for reviews!
