Pics and vague details:

EDIT: possible benchmarks:

Chiphell's been a good source for leaks. If benchies prove accurate, rumors of 470 performing around or under 5870 may be true as well.

lol, I like how they've had to cut into the PCB so the fan can draw in air from both sides of the card

That's nothing really new. I'm fairly certain I've seen them do that with previous cards as well (the GTX 295, for one).

Sounds like a great idea too me.

/shrug

don't get me wrong here, I'm not putting the idea down like so many others did when the 5800 Ultra introduced the then absurd notion of taking up more than one slot for cooling

I just find the situation humorous, even if the idea is great and innovative.

Heck, we have the new 5970 "ultras" that are coming with purposefully designed 3 slot coolers

it makes one question whether or not there's a better way

Airflow should be better due to that, though it will also draw in more dust.

You're all wrong. The only thing that'll make these cards perform better are oversized yellow wiper blades.

I have to admit that may be more ricey than a pic I saw a few years ago with a huge single round 15-20" looking exhaust pipe coming out the back. It was on some slowbo civic or something

NUH UH.

this actually makes your card run COOLER at high loads. ;)

The classic in ridiculous exhaust pipes...was it this by any chance? I think it is pretty famous:

Nearly as bad as this wooden body kit:

So GTX 470 is just as fast as 5870?

Nope, slightly slower.
Which means that we should see some pricing pressure, WOO!
If it had been as fast or faster, then NV could stick with ATI pricing and come in at $400 for the 470GTX and do quite well.
Since it seems like it's a little slower, that would mean it has to be priced below the HD5870, which means ATI will probably decide to drop the price of the HD5870 and maybe everything else to put pressure on NV to drop their prices some more.

We can only hope.

Wonder why they would use such a slow CPU and only 2GB RAM. That's of course if any of this is legit.

Actually the benchmarks are from two difference sources.
The 3D Mark score is from one place, and uses the slow system, but the other numbers (the Chinese ones) are run on an i7 3.2GHz with 6GB RAM and Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

It'll be interesting to see what happens if these numbers hold up. nVidia won't be able to have exorbitant prices if true. Granted, for the short term it would be better if the GF100 destroyed the 5800s as it would send their prices plummeting from their current price gouge points. However I think it will probably be better in the long run if nVidia does get knocked down a peg with a relatively colossal failure and is forced to rethink their strategy.

Yeah, it's weird. Grain of salt I guess.
