I remember getting off a plane in Phoenix in August and the limo thermometer saying it was 118F (~47C) outside. Humans can get used even 120-ish degree heat soon enough, but electronics still demand climate control. I tried using my laptop by the hotel pool at night (it was still well over 100) and the poor thing was all like "Are you on crack? Enjoy my 90C CPU temperature."

Spent two years commuting there and it's a wonderful place to live in the other 3 seasons though.

Heat isnt that big of a problem for the 470 though. In SLI maybe, but the standard version is kinda like the previous gen nVidia cards.

Yeah me to, but you also have to factor driver improvements. I would expect the 470 to some jumps as the drivers mature.

I dont know how people can handle that 24/7. i visited florida last year and it was like that temp for the whole time i was there, leaving me either in the pool or sweating profusely

Yeh i live in England, 25C is considered a hot day

Thread hijack!!....on my 2nd visit to India after bohemian London living, I sweated constantly for 2wks...LOL...Beer certainly takes awhile to sweat out!

hehe, here today where I live, the temperature is around 90F and feels so humid, I feel like I'm in a hot summer in Vietnam, Crysis Style, but not in a Korean Island.

No need to rub it in! They do say spring will come to our rain forest island.

Sigh. I'm waffling between the two, and was settling on the 5850 due to lower power consumption and the reports of good OC ability,, and now the below comparison is giving me second thoughts. However, I do live in NYC and my current first-gen G92 8800GT ran hot enough to really worry me.

Decisions, decisions.

Screw it... why settle for a 470 when I can get a cooler, less power hungry, more powerful 5870 for $50 more?
