Thanx for pointing that out.:).Actually i have recently bought an ac which i think will serve the purpose.I also have an APC 1000 VA ups so i think i am kind of protected from power surges and outages. After market coolers will be a bit of headache to find here.I will try to grab one sure. Can u suggest a good after market cooler within a moderate price range?

gotcha. well, the good news is the 5850 won't cost nearly as much to operate os a 4870 OR an AC unit!

Good for you!!. Which city do you live in?

If you are interested in liquid cooling go for the Corsair H50.
Air = Noctua NH-D14.

These are the best I have seen in India. Cream of the crop. Price of around 4500\-

If that price is including tax,VAT, etc. then that's reasonable. You can always try negotiating or compare different stores.

I might sound like a broken record but only buy if you trust the vendor and never buy an open box, ever.

The only problem with these coolers are that they're for a CPU and not a GPU, which is what he was asking about. The easiest non-reference cooling solution would be to buy a Vapor-X model from Sapphire, though I'm not positive they make one for the 5850.

I have a 5850 on a 750TX, have had zero problems with it.

Thanks Scorcher for clearing things up. 5850 does have a Vapor-X version but I am not sure reg the availability here in India.

XFX has a custom version too. Jaydip has too do some searching.

AT main site has a new look BTW :D.

Lots of good advice. The 5850 looks like a no-brainer with its superior power consumption. Can't believe NVidia would release such a power-eater. These days, that kinda thing is starting to lose its validity, performance or not. NVidia has some work to do.

With the burgeoning middle class there, I'd think air conditions would be commonplace for people who can already afford to buy high-end video cards.

Thanx,so a 5850 it is.Has anyone here encountered any problems with 5850 and win 7?.One of my friends is having a lot of issues lately like system freezing, big mouse cursor.

Ati drivers did have the big mouse cursor problem a while back, solved with new driver sets or vga bioses...

Both camps have problems though, Nv released a driver that stopped the fan from spinning and destroyed cards from overheating. Got ups and downs with either... It's like ford/chevy

i live in India and at summers it becomes very hot indeed(room temp reaching 36-38 degree).

I dont know how people can handle that 24/7. i visited florida last year and it was like that temp for the whole time i was there, leaving me either in the pool or sweating profusely

Yeh i live in England, 25C is considered a hot day

hehe, here today where I live, the temperature is around 90F and feels so humid, I feel like I'm in a hot summer in Vietnam, Crysis Style, but not in a Korean Island.
