Does anyone have any idea if this is overvolted?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-596-_-Product

Thinking of getting it and underclocking it a bit, to something like 780/1600. I like it because of its size. I've never messed with voltage on a system before though. But if it's overvolted, I'd want to turn down the voltage too.

Does rivatuner let you mod voltage? If not, is there another program I should use?

Maybe he/she wants to get it due to size, as it may be smaller than launch versions and the only one that's smaller is that non-standard launch model. They did mention the size appeals to them.

But it does seem like a bit of extra, possibly, unnecessary work though if size is all that matters. They could save money as you suggested.

lol.

I probably needed to make it more clear on my part. What I meant was, he likes the smaller sizes from non reference models. Maybe he didn't look through the whole inventory, but to buy an OC just to underclock it is kinda.... what's the point lol.

If size is a factor, to which I'm sure it is, as they said they like the size of the eVGA, then that would be better for them as it's cheaper and no need to underclock it. Unless they have brand affiliation to eVGA and HAVE to buy them.

Maybe I didn't explain myself right. I still want a factory OCd card. If the card I linked was overvolted, I was going to underclock it and turn down the voltage. Was curious if anyone knew if it was overvolted.

No, it doesn't have to be EVGA. That card just seemed like the best deal out there for what I want.

If you know about MSI afterburner and you are willing to undervolt why not just get a reference card for 150 and OC it?

...Why pay more for a card that is clocked higher when you can pay less for a card that is clocked slightly lower and you can do whatever you want with it? Just buy the Galaxy card i linked.

All you gotta do is bump up the GPU clock 80MHz and adjust the voltage to what you want.

That factory OC card probably is overvoltaged.

The only nvidea video card tweaking program I know about is rivatuner. Is MSI afterburner only for MSI cards? Does MSI cover overclocking in their warranty? Am I guaranteed to get the OC I want? I know that last Q is no, which is why I don't want to get a reference card.

Afterburner OCs any card regardless of manufacturer.

As far as warranties, 99% of the time, OC damage is not covered. It's at your own risk to go any further than the factory clock. But, honestly, you really gotta screw it up to brick the card.

Pretty much all of us here, if you make a thread, can help you make sure it goes smoothly.

Factory OC's are so incredibly low it is only a gimmick GTX 460's are beasts the MSI hawk talon attack can get 1Ghz (1000mhz) OC....... the standard clock is 720Mhz... You are buying a card with 850mhz.... I would get a standard card and just OC to 800 on the Core with no voltage tweak.

That Galaxy card i linked is perfect for what the OP wants 😛

I've heard a lot of people complaining about Galaxy cards busting on this other website I frequent...

This other website?

Jesus. I saw that too! Oh WOW!!! Those cards are really breaking down!!1!one! Thank you so much for being a productive member of the forum and actually helping me with my video card choices! I'll be sure to avoid Galaxy now that you told me this!
