GTX 280 all of the sudden is Dog Slow?

I installed the new nvidia beta drivers 185.81 --and turned on the new Ambient Occlusion option to see what it is all about. I noticed when playing COD 4 the FPS went down about 50% to 30-35 FPS with Ambient Occlusion enabled . It usually runs 60 FPS w/ V-sync (Max settings @ 1080) on the 182.50's . I decided I wanted to go back to the newest WHQL drivers the 182.50, which i had installed in the first place. And now playing COD 4 I get about 10-25 FPS?? Grid runs like crap too?? I unistalled the drivers and reloaded them again and still no luck? Any Ideas?? my computer specs is in the Signature below. Thanks

I believe this is a driver issue--My GTX 280 idles @ 54-57 C and load is at 79-85 c temps appear to be fine?
 
Yes I am sure my CPU and Ram are not at full usage. I don't have the option to turn off or on Ambient occlusion on the 185.20's. I don't what else it could be?? I just bought my power supply and it's works great as far as I can tell--I mean it has been playing games very well.
