GTS G92 worth the extra over GT G92

That entirely depends. What are you running, at what resolutions? How much of a gamer are you?

Performance does not scale linearly with price at the high end. You pay a lot more for a little more performance. I'm sure a quick search of recent Anandtech articles will produce benchmark and game FPS results for both cards. See if they list your favorite applications and make the decision from there.

At one point, Newegg had an EVGA G92 GTS bundled with Crysis for $300. If I were in the market for a graphics card and Crysis, I'd probably have jumped on that deal. At the prices the GTS usually goes for, I'm content with my 8800GT, especially since I have no problems playing on 1024x768.

If you can wait a few months, I would wait. If you can't wait, well, it depends on the resolution of your monitor. If it is 1640x1050 or below, just get a GT. Even if it is higher than that resolution, it might still be better to just get the GT and overclock it even with the stock cooling (EVGA gets 700MHz core on the stock cooling, so you know it is possible). It still won't matter much since no card can play Crysis at those resolutions anyway, not even a 8800 GTX Ultra Tri-SLI...

In terms of bang/buck the gts is not worth getting over the gt unless the price difference is small, like $30-40. Clock for clock the two cards perform almost identically, and neither one will run Crysis with maxed out settings smoothly.

That depends, is a better stock cooler worth $50-65 more over a GT?

If not, get an Accelero S1 for $25 and overclock the GT. :)

I don't think it's bundled with Crysis anymore, but today's Newegg Newsletter had an EVGA G92 8800GTS for $305 with free shipping and a $20 rebate, for $285 after rebate.

And looking over it more today, there's also a BFG version for $269.99 after rebate. Not a bad price at all, considering most people are still paying $50 for their GTs.

I'm running 1920x1200, and I would not consider it worth the $65. The major reason is that the gt and the gts share the same 256-bit memory bus, and the same 512MB of memory. The gpu's are nearly identical in performance, and if one of the cards begins to suffer from a memory limitation, then the other will suffer just as much. If the gts inherited the memory setup grom the gtx, then it would be worth it IMO.

If you can get a GTS for $30 or 40 more, then it's worth it IMHO.

1.) Per AT, about 10-15% performance improvement
2.) More shader processing
3.) Better cooling configuration
4.) EVGA ships a version that comes with Crysis ...

If you can get all 4 things for $30-40 more, that's not bad, esp. if you want Crysis.
