Those prices for brakes are expectable. Replacement rotors and pads (factory) on an STI are $4000.... and to the person saying that if you do not get your car serviced at nissan your warantee will be cancelled... Im pretty sure thats illegal, so I doubt that is the case.

Bit exaggerated....rotors are about $400 each and the pads about $500 for the set. So about $2100...with the calipers you'd be about a grand short though, about $700 EACH for those, much cheaper on ebay from dudes going big brake kits. 🙂

That's factory prices and parts. People use the STI brakes on Nissans.

Not exaggerated at all....

Front Rotors: 999.90
Front Pads: 499.95
Rear Rotors: 959.90
Rear Pads: 469.00

With installation the dealerships are quoting $4000.....

I would never pay that mind you -- you can get better brakes and pads that arent brembo for much, much less.

Your dealership sees you and is ripping you off.

I just looked up list prices and I am pretty dead on for the latest models.

Pads should come as a set...maybe Subaru sells them as just a corner.

Whoa, I just read about GTR maintenance costs which are more like Porsche and other German cars rather than Japanese car prices.

http://www.mygtr.com/forum/sho...&highlight=maintenance

Oil change $150-200 (little pricey but not unreasonable)
18k mile service $2,500 (too much for some fluid changes)
Brakes $6,000 (damn, that's expensive bill every 30-40k miles)
clutch $6,000 (clutch will need to be replaced if launch control is used around 20 times)

Nismo also has Club Sport Package for $50,000 which is basically wheels, shocks and springs, seats, and exhaust.

GTR may be excellent value but it looks like they're going to rape you on support.

Just about any Lexus, BMW, Merc, etc (we're talking plain old sedans here) have similar costs.

Are you serious? Those prices are supercar prices, which the GTR is far from.

OMG, how do you figure cars in this range are anything but a nightmare to keep on the road. You think this thing stops faster than anything else ever has on the stock brakes in a Cavalier? Of course they're expensive. Consider yourself lucky if you don't have a $20,000 maintenance bill after a single track run. Last the life of the car ... lol ... take a pull and pass it on man.

don't worry about the maintenance cost as you'll never have the car. People who got money to buy the car wouldn't bitch about maintenance cost. They usually sell the car at around 100k miles mark just before all the major maintenance is due and some poor smuck will buy the car they have been dreaming of for years. This is the person that's going to btch and whine about the cost of this and that for a car that have an msrp of 90k.

I don't think even a handful in this demographic keeps their cars to 100k, I'd be surprised if many of these hit 100k in the next 10 years as well.

This is how the dealerships are recouping their investment from being able to be allocated a GTR in the first place. From what I understand, for a dealership to be able to sell a new GTR they must be able to service them as well. The specialist diagnostic equipment & tools and the cost to fly a tech to a training program just for the GTR costs each dealer nearly $175K+ from what I've read. I do agree, however, that the prices are crazy and it's not making the car such much of a bargain supercar that the NSX was in its day.
