600mhz+ LMAO!!!!!

Not with this voltage. The volatge to the GPU is lower then on real x800xt pe cards since it runs at a slower clock speed.

Why do you think people are having problem clocking the PCI-e verisons to even X800XT speeds???

600mhz +?? LMAO!!!! keep dreaming....

awww, what the heck. I've always gotten a kick out of possibly modable vid cards, I just ordered one from www.computerhq.com to replace my 9500np_>9700pro. I'll keep you guys posted on what the results are. I've gotten more than my fair share of free hand outs from other people being the guinea pig, if nothing else this is my chance to repay the favor.

Special Conditions: This item is returnable for replacement only. It can only be exchanged with the same item.

:Q

!!!

But please, LMK . . . i will jump on this IF it is modable . . . it'd be a cheap and decent upgrade for my 9800xt.

Huh? It's certainly possible. I got the GTO^2 and it's doing 540mhz core fine (540 is XTPE's core, I have the mem to 1200mhz, a bit higher than XTPE). I do have it running on ATI Silencer to keep down the heat.

In order to overclock it, people are probably going to want to remove the stock HSF and replace it with an aftermarket HSF, like the Arctic Cooling ATI Silencer 5 (Rev. 2).

BUT...I've read that sometimes the Arctic Silencers won't fit on certain cards that deviate from the reference, including possibly some of the Sapphire cards. Will the AGP Sapphire GTO2 comfortably accommodate the Arctic Silencer?

Heh. You say you called and that they do have it. Kris says he called someone at Sapphire and that he was told there isn't an AGP GTO2. In the meantime a couple different places are offering to sell AGP GTO2's on their websites. (What's the likelihood they would all make the same mistake?)

you guys didn't noice he said he spoke to a PR person? you guys are assuming a PR person knows anything.. remember, PR ppl don't deal in facts!

two hundred bucks is $200 ;)

the XTPE in AGP is dropping into the $250 range . . . anyway ;)

really? least exp i've seen em for is about $360 ($340 for pci-e)... for those prices 7800gt is a much better choice, even if you have to upgrade to pci-e (you'll have to eventually).

Is there any difference between the BIOS on a PCI-E card and an AGP card? When my AGP GTO2 gets here should I try to flash it with the modified BIOS everyone else has been using on their PCI-E GTO2's?

from what everyone else has been saying, NO! it might kill your card.

It all depends, wait before you go ahead and flash though.

are we even sure these are the same cards just with AGP? Are we sure this isn't some marketing mess up?

it is IMPOSSIBLE to kill your card with a bad BIOS flash [unless it is o/c'd and overheats the core] . . . you just flash it back

and NO do NOT use the BIOS from the PCIe XTPE!!
:Q

. . . rather the one from the AGP xtpe
;)

There needs to be an offical thread on this when it is confirmed these are the right chips then when there is a mod for it.

Yes, definatly. It will elminate all the He said, She said crap...

I'm just now reading all this after i post about whether i should upgrade from an MSI 9800Pro to either an X800XL or 6800GT...:(

I'm still running AGP and i'm wanting to get this last upgrade before i have to go to PCI-E in like a year probably

but

I would love to get this card if it is TRUELY AGP....but i say if u call Sapphire and they tell u it is AGP and then place an order for the AGP version...then u get it and it's not AGP...then I'm pretty sure they would refund ur money because it would be their mistake.

but even still...we don't know how modable or OC'able the AGP version will be...hopefully just as much as the PCI-E version is :D Then i will deinatly get it!

Lets keep each other posted on what we all find out.

AXP @ 2.2 Ghz

with a 9800 Pro or GTO2....

Stop tempting me into wasting money Anandtech :(

I dont FPS that much so Im not sure the GTO2 would give me much boost in RTS/RPG's.

Lemme check UK prices for kicks.

It's offical. The AGP version of the GTO2 does not exist. Excaliberpc.com just called me and told me it was mistake on Sapphire's end. They said to refuse the package for a full refund when it gets here. Hope all the other retailers work out as well.

Dear Matt,

We just got the news from Sapphire that the AGP GTO2 is actually only the GTO. They are expected to release the GTO2 only in PCI-Express. We are very sorry for the wrong information. Please refuse the package if you can. If UPS delivers it by mistake then we will send you a label to send it back at our expense. A full refund of $220.24 will be issued once you refuse or send back the package.

Thanks,

Steven
