Are you going to buy it? I think I might jump.

Question though.

Even if it doesnt OC, is it a significant upgrade from a 9800pro?

Yes . . . remember that even the 6600GT beats the 9800pro significantly . . .

The 12-pipe GTO (even AGP) would blow the 9800 Pro away (much faster clocks + 4 more pipes + 2x memory). And since it's on R480 core, it should overclock to upwards of 600Mhz+ on the core . . .

I jumped, but keep me updated Kristopher because I have no problem calling up Excaliberpc now and cancelling the order.

I'd cancel the order man, chances of it being a moddable GTO2 are slim and none, plus Kris says the SKU matches the vanilla GTO. No point in taking a chance and eating a 15% restocking fee or not being able to resell it.

Edit: Called up Sapphire and they do indeed have the X800GTO2 AGP. I'm going to give it a shot.

Well guys, there you have it. There is an X800GTO2 AGP. Do I have to be the first guinea pig?

I highly doubt you'll be the first, retailers claim they're selling these like hotcakes. No clue why so many people would jump the gun without waiting to find out if they mod first like they're all gonna vanish into thin air. The PCI-E cards are still in stock, granted the price has gone up a good deal, but they've been out for over a week now and are 100% confirmed softmods.

In my case, I built my computer a year ago when PCI express was just emerging and I am now looking for an upgrade to my computer. If I can get away with staying AGP for awhile longer then I will.

Is that a worthwhile upgrade from a 6800gt?

No . . . not really . . .

The 6800GT to an X850XT (that is assuming the GTO2 AGP can unlock) would be similar to the X800XL to X850XT, i.e. not really worth it since you can probably overclock to your GT significantly. Also, the X850XT is really only faster with Direct3D games mostly as an overclocked GT will generally be faster in OpenGL . . .

Hi,

Sapphire's PR Director just told me there was not an AGP version of the GTO^2. If I hear anything else, I will let you guys know.

Heh. You say you called and that they do have it. Kris says he called someone at Sapphire and that he was told there isn't an AGP GTO2. In the meantime a couple different places are offering to sell AGP GTO2's on their websites. (What's the likelihood they would all make the same mistake?)

Well, if you Froogle it, there are ONLY 2 places that sell the AGP version. So it's PROBABLY a mistake.

Just called Sapphire. The guy I talked to said there most definately is an AGP version of the GTO2 and it's new. He also said I was probably the 10th person that has called to ask. I have no idea what to think anymore.
