Speed Channel is supposed to air this comparison of the GTO and V8 GP on June 12 to show how it stacks up against its "Competitors" in terms of performance. From what i recall those competitors are composed of the G35c, BMW 330i, Nissan Maxima and a couple others.

Does anyone find it odd that these V8's are stacked up against V6 cars? I mean, it's a video comparison of its performance - not features or class.

What are the prices like? It's not Pontiac's fault that they have a V8 when thier competitors don't.

LOL, the GP GXP would probably torque steer itself into a telephone pole :D

As for the comparison, a 330i and G35c would STILL rape it...especially if they're manuals. Hell, even the autos maybe. In fact, they should test the 330i and G35c with a manual anyway...I mean, it's BMW and Nissan's fault that they offer manuals :D

Sorry but the GTO needs to be compared with cars in it's class, i.e. Mustang GT, Mazda RX-8 and 350z. No one that is thinking about buying a BMW is going to look at the GTO or Grand Prix.

I could see someone cross shopping a 330ci and a GTO...but the Grand Prix is just a fuggin' joke.

A V8 in the Bonneville didn't sell, and it ain't gonna work for the Grand Prix either.

Most cases the auto is more expensive. Even if it's not on the GTO, the auto gets the gas guzzler fee of $1300 so it probably pushes it ahead.

fixed my post.. i was looking at the dodge charger earlier today, which only comes as an auto (when you build one on the dodge site, anyway)

didn't cadillac have a FWD V8 back in the day?

i recall it didn't go over too well, either. ;) of course, back then, V8's were pushing amazing figures like 140 HP, so it couldn't have been the end of the world.
