Go to http://media.intelweboutfitter.com/preview/us/preview.htm

and click on the button that you have the P3 processor. Once it downloads the program and checks. You register. Once you register there will be a special offer or something like that button and you should find High Speed Internet in there or something like that.

It will than connect you to verizon web page. It will check your phone number to make sure you can get dsl. The website will give you a special #. Once you get the number call verizon (the phone number will be given to you there). You qualify for one month free service, free modem, free installation, free shiping, and NO CONTRACT.

they still go by GTE in california. like all the vans and stuff still say gte. even though they're verizon. that's why people still call it GTE/Verizon. and a lot of people in southern california have been also having problems with provisioning speeds. seems like the computer keeps resetting the speeds from bronze plus packages (768/128 kbps) to bronze (256/150 kbps) speeds. but mine has been ok for a couple of days now. it's still pretty good for 39.99 though. a lot better than dial up

I have Gte/Verizone cable modem service with their cable tv. I have found their service to be extremely fast and reliable. The total package with cable comes out to only 59 dollars. The only problem is that this is only offered in Ventura County which is in Southern California. I don't think anyone knows about the service here so it seems pretty quick. It took only 4 days to install the whole setup. They also give you a Cisco Ubr900 router so you have instant networking. I found this to be the best deal for me.

NOTE:

verizon WILL move all users to PPPoE. and verizon has plans for static IP, via PPPoE...

I got this off the question and answer section on the GTE/Verizon web site.

Can I use multiple computers on one DSL connection?
-- Yes, because the DSL modem has an Ethernet 10 Base T interface. All you'll need is an inexpensive Ethernet hub and some cabling, which is available at most retail outlets, and you can connect all the computers in your home or office to the one DSL modem.

My friend signed up by going through intelweboutfitter.com for verizon dsl service.

He got the free external modem, no contract, and no shipping costs. First month free with no obligations.

ive been scouring the intel site for a while. there isnt any offers for L.A. verizon. All they have a link for (under broadband web offers) is pac bell. any other L.A. people find the link? Im desperate to find a deal that has no contract (i live in an apartment and i dont know when im taking off...)
so this is a really hot deal for me.

So did myself, they seem to have only a PacBell deal for Ca and Nv and US West in most of the other areas. The Verizon deal is for the Eastcoast mostly, even though I live in WLA area and have Verizon for phone service. This would be a deal I would jump on if no installation free, free modem and 1st month free with no contract for $40 a month, but no go for us.
