In the midst of one the greatest launch seasons ever Rockstar Games walks into our party, slaps their playing card on the table:

...and then walks out.

Does the "V" in GTAV look like the font and texturing one would find on American currency?

I didn't really play before San Andreas, was there ever a Vegas-ish version?
You mean apart from Las Venturas in San Andreas? No, there wasn't any that was strictly set in Vegas.

I'm worried about GTA V. Not because I think it will be bad... but because GTA IV turned me into a social pariah for months. So did Red Dead Redemption. I'm concerned that when GTA V comes out, I'll just resort to disowning my family to free up more time for gaming.

Ya, with like a couple mile long strip and all the adult funland craziness that goes on. Regardless, I'm with you AtomicPlayboy, this will own my life no matter where it is set or how good it is. I love Rockstar.

i don't think GTA in vegas would be that fun. it is basically one long flat strip of road with some side roads. it is not a big city by any means either.

If they made it a little more detailed than previous GTA games it could work.

I was going to say they should have more indoor areas but then I remembered the actual name of the game... Grand Theft Auto.

It'd have to be GTA Nevada or something with the main part being Vegas...but yeah I agree.

I have great respect for RockStar but didn't really kind GTA IV fun. It felt like work a lot of the time, and I probably didn't make it 20% of the way to completion. RDR was great but it, too, lost my attention after a while.

Yay?

GTA4 wasn't totally horrible but it was nowhere near as fun as the Saints Rows games.

I hope they make more like Vice City.

I completely disagree. I'm not saying your opinion is wrong, but I couldn't get into the Saint's Row games at all; I've watched my friend play them, and it's just over-the-top cartoonish bullshit that I have absolutely no interest in. GTA managed to feel like an actual story; it had just enough over-the-top nonsense to make you aware you were playing a game, but a cohesive and engaging story and a world that felt real. It was more engaging on every level for me than Saint's Row, and I really, really hope Rockstar doesn't go that direction with it. It'd be like Polyphony deciding to make the next Gran Turismo game a Need For Speed clone. They're different games within a similar genre; there's no need to make one like the other.
