GTA4 due out in October for PS3 and 360

Great, this is whats gonna really make me buy a Xbox 360. I am mainly waiting on a price drop. Since it ain't due till Oct I ain't in no hurry since I know we will see a price drop by the end of the year. I wanna play GoW but I don't see giving $399 for a system for just that game.
 
A release date announced when there are no screenshots, movies, or anything about it? Interesting.
 
The release date was announced at E3 last year, and it's still holding strong. Plus, to vhx, previous GTA games haven't had much, if any, media released until the last couple of months before it's release, so no worries. Rockstar is tight-lipped about it's GTA releases.

I honestly do not see a price drop for you this year, unless it's one of consequence, i.e. the new rumored black 360 comes out, and they drop the price on the current Premium systems to get them out of stock.

You could be right but another reason is for the new rev whether its a black version or not. Will be pathetic if MS doesn't drop the price some this year. The console will be 2 years old Nov(is it?) and way overdue for a price drop. Didn't the original see a price drop a year after release or a year and a few months?

The original XBOX was also the last contender to market and coming in without much fanfare 😛.

Yeah but didn't most all console releases in the past 10-12 years at least have a first price cut within 2 years of release? Of course if something is selling good why drop the price? I still think they will be one come the holidays.
 
Even if there won't be an official price drop there is bound to be another sale or rebate similar to MicroCenter's $100 off either system. I'm thinking there will be another price drop sometime once/if sales start to dry up now that the holiday season is well in the rear-view mirror. The 360 had a very strong holiday season (if only because they had enough supply to meet the demand that Nintendo and Sony did not) however I would think things would change once people have a true choice of systems as supply catches up - thus Microsoft would be in position to lower the MSRP of their console.

Of course as someone already mentioned, there is always the rumored premium package upgrade that should push the price of current versions down instead of a flat out price drop.
 
It's set place in Liberty city if I remember right.

I can't wait, while some people are kinda bummed because the first game was liberty city but it was so small...
 
I wonder how long it will be before Thompson files another suit against Rockstar to stop them from releasing this? 😛 Almost makes me want to buy a PS3. I say PS3 and not X360 because it can also be used for F@H.

Fine with me. I loved GTA3.

The graphics look fairly well-upgraded, and I really liked the mob story of GTA3, a little more than the glamourized Vice City, and thuggish San Andreas.

are you against buying used? I found an Xbox 360 locally for $350, it's the Premium with an extra wireless controller, 2 games (GOW's one of them) and the VGA cable. Also has an extended warranty. I'm seriously thinking about picking it up.

Yup, I heard that the engine was supposed to be brand new. GTA3 thru SA were all based on the same engine.

Unfortunately, the game probably won't be out for PC until early-mid 2008. 🙁

Thats because they don't sell much on PC... This game appeals more to average joe than it does to person who plays game all the time. The game will come out XBOX 360 and PS3 and sell over 10million copies and then come out to PC and sell around a 1Million copies.

True I guess.

The funny thing is that all my friends who rush out and buy it tell me how awesome the game is, and that I suck becuase I have to wait so long to play it. Then by the time I get it, play through it, and then talk to them about it, I realize they didn't even get 1/3 of the way through the game. Most of the good missions come later in the game as well as having access to all the good vehicles.

I actually didn't care too much for SA after I finished it for the first time, but I got bored and went through it again earlier this year and enjoyed it a lot more. I'll probably play through again before GTA4 comes out.
