GTA Vice city @ BestBuy for 39.99, @ Fry's for 34.99(not sure 'coz they listed the price below for TonyHawk4, no price for GTA). Avaialbe @BB on Wed, @ Fry on Tue by noon. This is my 1st post, sorry if it's a repost.

This is going to be a great game.. the screenshots look really nice, but no thx on the ps2 version.. low resolution tv and mouse is way more fun to aim around with... hmm.. come to think of it the gta series games were designed to be played on the pc originally, when did they decide to start coming out with a console version first?

Advertised in the Sunday's San Jose Mercury News at Fry's for $49.99, not $34.99

Best price is at Best Buy for $39.99 (Arrives Wednesday!?) I am going to see if I can get Fry's to pricematch it on Tuesday.

Tony Hawk 4 for PS2 is $34.99 and that is a Hot Deal, but I am wondering if I should get it for PS2, Gamecube or XBOX.

GTA Vice City is on Amazon's 2 buy PS2 games, get 1 free offer list:

http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=40&threadid=898026

I grabbed GTA, GTA VC, and Summoner 3 under that offer for ~100+tax + S/H. I also has to add Dynasty Warrior 3 for $29.95 to my order too, so I'm not sure what S/H is exactly for just the 3 games.

Subtotal of Items: $179.96
Shipping & Handling: $ 11.46
Promotional Certificates: -$ 49.99
----------
Total before Tax: $141.43
Tax: $ 1.49
----------
Total for this Order: $142.92

142.92 / 4 games = ~$35.73 ea

However:

Shipping estimate for these items: November 2, 2002
Delivery estimate: November 6, 2002 - November 7, 2002

Because Sony realized it was going to be a hit and got Rockstar to sign an agreement to produce it for PS2 first. That's why they work in it before the PC version. The GTA3 deal also said that they had to wait 3 years before releasing it for other consoles. That's the reason we haven't seen it on gc or xbox. I'm guessing it might be the same for VC. Oh well, hopefully they'll get the PC out faster this time.

from the screen shots, i suggest you get it for xbox if you want the best grafix. i have the gamecube version and i have played the ps2 version... i find the gamecube controls to be MUCH smoother and the grafix are better than ps2. so either get xbox or gamecube. 🙂

check electronic gaming monthly magazine, they always have $5 off coupons for Best Buy.

$34.99 sounds good. 🙂
Do they work online though? Because as it stands now, it looks like it might be very difficult to get a copy in-store on the day it's supposed to be released .

Amazon is giving a free Playstation 2 game when you buy two PS2 games at $49.99. Use an Amazon promotional code.

Some successful combinations: 1) Burnout 2, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2. 2) Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4, and NHL 2003. 3) Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, Metal Gear Solid 2, and Madden 2003.

lol, guess again! It will be PS2 ONLY for 2 years. This is old news, forget about playing it on your PC. PS2 only, which is fine with me since I own a PS2 also...

Well i'm not sure Fry has it for 34.99 since they have GTA and TH4 next to each other and 34.99 right below TH4, but no price for GTA.

my firs post here...

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (ps2) $39.99 this Wed at Best Buy
If you have the $5 off Best Buy coupon from EGM, you can get it for $34.99.

EDIT: The coupon is on page 145 of ISSUE 159 - OCtober 2002 Issue.

Total before Tax: $141.43
Tax: $ 1.49
1% tax? Where do you live?

Virginia suburb of Washington, DC [USA]. Geez, I didn't even notice that. I think I only got taxed on the last game (DW3@$29.99) becauses its being fulfilled by Target which has stores in VA.

Does anyone know of any B&M deals for the strategy guide? I know Amazon has it pretty cheap, but I would rather go ahead and pick it up with the game. I'm buying the game at Best Buy, but don't care where I get the strategy guide.
