GTA: Vice City, does not work.Also some problms with Prince of Persia2

Hi.

I just installed GTA:Vice City that was fine. After i installed it i selected the GTA: Vice City icon and the cursor show'd that it is busy but the game is not loading, and my DVD RW does not want to eject the Vice City CD.

Every other program on my PC is working fine even while that disk is stuck in the drive.

The only way i can get the CD out is, i have to shut the pc down or restart it norm, and then the disk comes out fine.

Right now as i am typing this message the disk is still in side the DVD drive.

Please if any one has any idea as to what i need to do to make the game work please tell me.

P.S. i bought the game Last Night.
 
1. Have you tried uninstalling, deleting the program folder, rebooting and reinstalling?

B. Is there a second optical drive in your PC that you can install from or a second PC or extra drive you can swap in. Certain drives have problems with the copy-protection on some games.
 
I have tried reinstalling 2.

Did not work.

I do not have a second drive but do you think my drive wont read games?

If the DVD drive worked for the install it sounds like it's working properly and should be reading the disk to play. When you insert the DVD do you get an autorun scrren that comes up and gives you choices for the game (Install, Play, etc.)? How about patches? have you tried to d/l and install any patches for it?

 
First off "GTA:Vice City came with 2 cd's(1-install & 1 -play disk).

I tried to install the game with the radio stations and without it but still i could not play the game.

After i install the game, the play cd is already inside my PC(as the pc ask's for it to install some files), i tried both taking the cd out and leaving the cd inside when i click on GTA icon to play the game.

Strange thing is it never put an icon on my desktop(as a link to GTA), so i have to go to 'Start/ all programs/Rockstar..../GTA: Vice City).

Also i don't know if this helps but i bought 2 games last night,1 was VICE City the other was Prince Of Persia: Warrior Within.

I also had a problem with that game (Prince Of Persia: Warrior Within) as well, i could only install and play the game if i choose to not install the movies on my hard disk.

This sucks big time, and i'm not too sure what is going on.

I tried to go to GTA:Vice City's website but the patches they have won't help me.

Also after the install i can eject the CD but if i click on the GTA icon the cursor shows its doing somthing but nothing happens.

While all thats going on if i go to SYSTEM resources it that GTA is useing 50% of it but nothing is happing.

Also the CD will not eject, the only way to get the CD out is i have to restart my pc.

As far as a screen goes the only screen that comes up is a screen to open the cd as a folder or with windows media player.

If any one can help me it will be great.

First, problem or not, I'd suggest downloading a "fix". You bought the game, you shouldn't hvae to deal with the hassle of CD-swapping, imo. I use a no-cd fix for Vice City.

Second, try deleting the Vice City directory in My Documents. I seem to recall having some issues and that fixing it, was a while ago though and my memory's hazy.

When you say you use a cd fix what do you mean and where do you get it from?

At this point i don't care about swaping cd's as long i can get the game running.

Any help would be great.

Your legally allowed to use a fix as long as you own the game. I would suggest megagames.com.
 
Okay but what about Prince Of Persia: Warrior Within, what do you think is wrong with that game.

Guys come on i need your help here.
 
Can someone please help me with Prince Of Persia: Warrior Within, i need to know if there is any problem with the game or not.
 
What exactly is your problem with POP:WW?

I had a problem with the intro movie crashing during startup, and used a "fake" movie that all it did was display a blank screen for about 1 second.
 
The game is working perfect. Just one more thing will there be any problems with the game in the near future, like do you think that i can play the entire game without the play CD and will i be able to complete the game.

I'm still a bit worried :Q cause i had to install a patch to get the game working(never mind that i don't need the cd to play it).

Thats the name of the patch that i used, you spoke of a patch ver 1.1 what does that do(also did you have to install a patch to get "GRAND THEFT AUTO: VICE CITY" working in your system).

So what i am trying to say is (in the installation process) if i say that i don't want the movies to be installed on my Hard drive it installs fine, and i can play it perfect.

Do you think i should return "Prince Of Persia :WW" and "Vice City" for another copy and see if that works without me puting any patches or any mods.

Think of it this way if you had bought 2 new games that you have wanted for a while now and got all the problems that i had with thouse games "WHAT WOULD YOU DO"?
 
Guys what would you do if you were in my place, return both games or keep them and hope nothing goes wrong towards the end of the games(cause toward the end of the install process of Prince Of Persia :WW there was an error and ,that error could towards the end of the game prevent me from playing any further).

Also did you have to install a patch to get "GRAND THEFT AUTO: VICE CITY" working in your system.


So whats it gona be, give the games away or keep them and hope they work till the end off the game?
 
I still don't understand your exact problems. Be more specific on what happens, what error messages say, etc.

But hey if you can still return them (doubt it with opened PC games) then I just would and buy some better games, cause they both suck. VC was cool years ago, and still is... for 10 minutes. 🙂
 
Okay for Prince of Persia 2:WW, this is the error msg i get when i choose to do a
"Full install"

I have some time 2mor so i going to xchange this game, if any one who has bought Prince of Persia 2:WW and has got thouse msg's when they tried to install it (the pics that i posted above) please tell me if there's somthing wrong with the disk) and what did you do.

Also NOTE: if i pick not to install the movies to the hard drive the game installs fine and i get no error msg's and i can play the game with no problem.

What should i do?

Return both Vice City and POP:WW or use the games as they are.
