Does anyone else here have a Dual core AMD CPU?
I have started playing GTA on my new rig and I'm having a very strange issue. After I boot the PC and start playing, GTA plays normally for a while, but then after a period of time everything (in the safehouses especially) starts moving very fast. The save disks start rotating about 5x faster and CJ runs really fast. When I go outside, he slows down, but all the cuscenes zip by in a split second. If my PC has been on a while and then I start up GTA, everything is fast. CJ runs about 5x faster and the traffic whizzes by at light speed. If I reboot and start GTA, it's normal for a while then starts to speed up again. It's really odd. I've not used any cheats whatsoever, and even tried putting in the speed cheat to see if somehow it accidentally got activated, but even it doesn't move as fast as this odd bug.
Here are my specs:
AMD X2 4800+ dual core
DFI LAN Part SLI-DR
BFG 7800GTX OC
2GB OCZ ram
Western Digital 75GB Raptor
etc.
When I first got the PC, the motherboard BIOS didn't recognize the dual core CPU and windows identified it as an unknown AMD. GTA played normally each time I played it. I then updated the BIOS to a few different versions that recongized the dual core CPU and that's when this issue started. That's why I'm wondering if anyone else has a Dual core AMD chip and is not having this problem.
I've been Googling and searching for references to this problem for a while and haven't seen anything.
