Was watching Lethal Weapon 2 for probably the first time in 20 years, and I noticed a familiar scene... Riggs using a truck to pull a support pole out from under a cliffside house.

Never played this one yet, just curious how much depth there is to doing side stuff and activities, like racing or golf for example, do they feel shallow, tacked on like in previous GTA's or do they compare to full games in themselves.

Golf is a full 18 hole game. You can stop any time. It's like actually playing an actual game though. It's only tacked on and feels so if those things don't appeal to you. You don't get anything for doing these activities though. There aren't many side missions. They are in the form of strangers and freaks where you do things for random characters in the game.

I've done about 20 or so of those and am about 50% complete in the single player portion. They should have let you have side heists because you don't earn any money for the story missions except for the first few heists. I hear you get a ton of cash if you save the assassination missions until you finish the main story heists. But by then if you haven't done anything other than the strangers and freaks side missions, there is nothing left.

Actually saving those for the end maybe was the point but if you were to do just the main story missions, you could finish the game pretty quickly I believe.

Is it me or does it seem like when you need to evade cops or chase someone down, the traffic suddenly decides to turn in front of you and you get more cars stopped at red lights blocking your way than usual?

Also whoever thought it was a good idea for cops to be able to see you through walls when you hid before they even got to the street you were on and then allow them to magically turn down the very side street you decided to try hiding down and behind a wall, seriously...this is not how you make good AI. It's like playing hide and go seek where you tell the seeker where you'll be before the game starts.

Seems like GTA is built on pop culture references, in a good way 🙂

Ugh, not sure what I did wrong but I only got 18 mil per character on The Big Score. Thta was after dying like 12 times during the shootout, got tired of redoing it. Hopefully I can still work the stock market to buy up all the properties.

Yes, this is a problem with the police AI, but the alternative would be even worse I think. Police that completely lose you once you break the line of sight would be way too easy to escape from.

They should search the general area. Like block off a few streets around the area and maybe have police dogs walk around trying to sniff you out. If you can sit tight for a minute they should give up and suppressed weapons shouldn't draw attention, a pistol with a suppressor should be a covert way to take down any unwanted attention but no...

Which way did you do it? A or B? I did A and walked out with 30mil each. I don't know what Path B entails but I summarized path A below.

A path was where you need 3 getaway cars upgraded to haul the gold out. You need spike strips from the police van as well. You steal the vault trucks, go in as the security crew, walk out with the gold then Merryweather finds out and you have to hack the traffic lights to allow your crew to get to the drop off and hinder Merryweather from finding them. Then Merryweather finds you and there's a big shootout.

I mentioned the same thing earlier. It's a total failure. It means that if you briefly elude the cops and drive half a mile away you'll still quickly find a strong concentration of cops magically coming to your position. Also appears that trees/bushes do not hide where you are, and they should.

I noticed yesterday also I swear some of the cop cars are faster than an Adder. I have an upgraded adder fully decked out and I do believe at times I've looked in rear-view at a cop close to me and we're both going at the same speed. I give it full throttle and the cop briefly surges ahead faster than I do; it's like they have elastic bands a little bit.

This could be resolved more honestly, like giving them a longer sight range or something.

That would have been a good dynamic. Unfortunately, suppressors in the game serve no purpose whatsoever that I could divine.

I got $30+ M/character on final heist. I did whatever the most aggressive approach was.

That's mainly because you can manipulate the stock market with the assassin missions which has a bigger impact when you have more money from other missions. I've done a few and was able to double up my money.

Judging from posts, game doesn't sound terribly enticing over previous GTA's.

You can pretend a police helicopter is watching you. In real life, seems they never get away once the chopper spots them.

The game itself was good, but I don't think it is worth more than a rental. I played the heck out of it and completed damn near everything before the online came out. I haven't touched it since then. The story is not amazing and some of the mechanics / gameplay "additions" make no sense, but the game is fun. The characters are pretty well written and the interactions between them is good (Franklin and Lamar is damn near perfect IMO).

It is just the world is so vast, but after you've done the mission, it is empty.

It's worth more than a rental. I say 20-30 bucks at the most for those who want to pick it up way later. If you just do the main story missions, there is nothing else to do and you finish it quickly. The last gta's had the ability to buy property and do missions from the property for money.

I don't even think I was made to feel like I wanted to explore the vast world. Mainly because there are no missions to do, it's all just visual.

I have done nearly all the missions save for a few ?s. I own all the property and have done a couple annoying missions for each of them. There is very little to actually do in this game. The races, sports, and other activities are just tacked on and completely lack depth. It is a rental game, which is sad.

That sucks. I expected San Andreas with more depth.

There is a ton to do but it feels worthless when you do it. There is also a lot of area to explore but there is nothing there except maybe a random hiker or elk to happen upon. There are also a lot of stores a buildings that are not interactive at all. I feel the soundtrack and music choice is the worst of all the GTA games as well. I might have expected too much though but I thought there would be more cool stuff to see and do like air to air jet fighter battles and there just isn't.

I feel like I got my money out of it because of the time I spent exploring etc. I just think the game world is larger than necessary just to create the illusion of an expansive world and the game was over hyped to the max. Part of it is my fault for having expectations that were perhaps unrealistic.

There is a good amount of story, with some of it being just filler. After that though, there is very little incentive to do anything.

The soundtrack is easily the worst. Not only was the song selection just not good, but there was little depth it felt like. I think they ran out of money licensing tracks or something.

The city looks interesting while driving through it, but other than that, there is very little to actually do. I feel like there were more places to enter in GTA 4.

It is fun while the missions last, but after that the entertainment value drives up rather quickly. I thought the online might have been their big thing, but apparently that was a dud as well.

I don't really remember doing anything extra in the other gta games, but they did seem longer. You can still do cab driver missions for money too in this one.

I guess I am a weirdo, because I am enjoying the game. Lately I have just been going on my own little rampages and trying to get away from the cops. This game is what you make it, if you expect Rockstar to hold your hand and make it fun for you, then you will be disappointed. But if you go out and look for fun stuff, you will enjoy it.

When 90% of the game world has nothing there? I mean you can drive for miles and never have anything to do there. What is the point of all that space?

I started to get bored playing online last night. That's not a good sign. It's way too soon to be getting bored.

I was going to wait for the first $250k to be deposited and buy one of the $400k apartments, but since the view is the only difference I think I'll buy one of the less expensive places with a 10 car garage. Hopefully collecting and modding cars will bring some of the fun back.

San Andreas is exactly the same. I think it's just that SA came out when a lot of us were younger, so we're remembering it a lot different than it is. I've played SA through 20x and played it again about a year ago. There's nothing more to do in it after completion than in V.

There are even more worthless additions like getting fat from eating etc.

It's the best GTA yet IMO. People's expectations were too high, and we've also all gotten over the excitement and the wonder of the new game, so all that's left now is to focus on the faults. It happens with every game.

Speaking as someone who is a GTA fanatic, and who probably has more recent experience with the previous games than most, GTAV is the best. People should go back and play SA again and they will see it's not all they remember it be.
