Am I not entitled to my opinion and the right to express it like everybody else? I'm playing the game on 360 right now. It looks ugly and it performs bad. That doesn't mean the game won't be amazing.

Looks ugly as compared to what? This is easily the best looking console game I've seen. Even better than The Last of US in many ways because of the scope of it all and the draw distance.

Poor performance you say? Again as compared to what? Did you expect 200fps or something?
 
If this game looks ugly then why play any console game at all? What other game looks better? I dunno what you were expecting but we've had the same hardware on both consoles for years. There are limitations to everything. If you are mainly a pc gamer then yeah I will agree that every console game "looks bad". For a console though I don't think it is an ugly game.

We had a very constructive conversation going on about the game, graphics, glitches, peformance, but obvious posts calling the game horrible fit what I see as trolling.

Anyways im really enjoying the game. The graphics aren't the best and the lack of AA is kinda annoying but i didn't buy the game for graphics. I bought it because of the awesome gameplay. Can't wait for the online.
 
I am a bit disappointed in the soundtrack though. Much of what they put on the rock stations is pop trying to be sold as rock Don Johnson - Heartbeat is a prime example.
 
I agree, and the lack of a user content radio station is a big misstep too.
As good as the stations are, they WILL get old eventually.
I don't enjoy over half the channels, but the ones I do like are great.
 
I actually kinda agree with futurefields (though I don't think it looks terrible). I find I have to keep rubbing my eyes as I play. Something about the aliasing and the brightness/contrast I guess. It still looks great, and the rest of the game more than makes up for it.

My biggest issue right now though, is the car damage. It's not as fleshed out as the damage in IV, and I find pretty much all cars I drive get a jammed wheel long before they get any other substantial damage. I still haven't blown up a car, just because I always have to ditch it because it can't drive anymore.

This might be a problem if people aren't taking time to set it correctly.
I'm playing on a 65" at 8 feet and have played for hours without eye strain. It definitely doesn't "literally hurt my eyes". LOL
 
This is the first console game I've played in a long time. So basically when I say the game is ugly, I'm not really saying this game in particular is bad, It's more a statement to the age of the consoles. These thing are ancient and you can tell by the lack of sharpness in overall image quality (lots of low res/compressed assets are needed, and on top of that, a weak post process aa implementation) and the chugging framerate. I really wish I could be playing this on PC instead. But I didn't want to wait. Oh well, take my money twice, Rockstar!

If you disagree with something I say then say what it is you disagree about. Just getting mad and throwing around playground insults only makes you look bad.

I'd rather play it on PC too, but I understand that it's on a console, so I cant complain about it.
I praise it for looking this good on old hardware.
It's a much better statement than "this game iz ugly, it hurtz my eyez" and expecting people not to call you out on it.
Make better statements, get better responses.

I can't get myself to play the main missions. I've done 10% of the game so far just doing side quests. Everywhere I go I find something fun to do. Tried out tennis and the legalize weed quest with Michael was pretty fun too.

Although I wanted to change his clothes,the bedroom was locked. I can't train chop yet since the ifruit app is not on android yet. Online will be fun, I heard one of the missions is stealing and flying a cargo plane with your friends. If the online is as open world as single player, who knows what you can and can't get in to.

I left it at default settings and brightness isn't too bad. It doesn't hurt my eyes but I do have to sit closer to read text. I wish they put a patch to up the font size.

I find the cars Better to handle but they fishtail at any movement. For example brake and turn at a slightly average speed and you can easily do a 180. I was having a hard time doing that racing mission with Franklin, the first one. Mainly because I should have just used a better car but there were none around at the time.

Also, any way to increase or change the size of the aiming reticule? If I'm not sitting close to my tv I can't make out what the hell I'm shooting at. If I wasn't wearing my glasses while playing it would almost be impossible. Normally with my glasses I can see and read text in other games from a distance but not with this game.

Anyway, I'm loving the game, it's a ton of fun cruising around and just exploring. Anyone know if you can get in the trolley? Seems it's in the map but everything around it like the roads up to it are blurred out.
 
You can go to the paint shop with a car and upgrade it. Engine, Transmission, brakes, suspension, turbo, spoiler etc. I have a decked out infernus. When I get the cash I'll get the Entity XF. It's like 700k though

Yeah, blew a lot of my money early in the game upgrading my first car. Between that and taking strippers home, I'm broke.
 
I just spent 1.5 hours reading this entire thread while my wife watched X Factor in the background. She kept talking and I just nodded while devouring this thread.

Stupid question, is my XBox Elite 120GB (from 2008-2009) connected to 32" LCD (720p) sufficient to play this?
Or would I notice an improvement if I played it on my 55" 1080p LED instead?

Michael is
at a park bench on the side of the road talking shit to a security guard or cop, and the guy walks away. Not sure what started that!
I just got Trevor and did a few missions, so nothing on him yet, but I'm sure he'll pay off. 🙂

I actually got it to take a few pics on the smartphone tonight. Nothing good though.

It truly is an amazing game, and I'm normally a PC guy.
 
The 720p res makes me cringe as I am sooo spoiled by my pc games, but I can still get myself to look beyond that, like the draw distanceand the cars. None of the cars look like box crap. Also when doing one of trevors first missions it took me beside the lake. Not only could I see the headlights of a car across the lake, but it reflected wonderfully in the water (dusk was starting). That it had reflective properties was yet another step in emersion that I haven't seen before. Really the water in the game is second only to assassin's creed 3's, and is super refreshing considering just how BAD GTA4's water was. Oh and the thunder and lightning effects are the best I have seen in a game. The lightning actually provides a REAL Point light source, and is not just some global lighting adjustment. If there is anything (aside from shooting with a gamepad) that I nitpick alot, is that you can't shoot through anything. It kinda sucks after all the Battlefield and call of duty games have gone so far into allowing shots through drywall and other flimsy material, that GTA5 harks back to the days where wooden doors can stop rockets.

oh and nothing annoys me more then the missions in the game (rampage) that have you spraying bullets with no real cover. I mean you can run for cover but there is usually a time limit and kill count that you will never make if you hide in a corner.

It depends on viewing distance. The 32" if close enough should be fine. The game is output at 720p as far as I know. Probably not 720p internal resolution though.

OK OK I get it, I'll probably play it on our 55" 1080p LED.

Is my Xbox Elite 120GB sufficient to play this or do I need a newer console?
