Correct me if I am wrong, but all previous GTAs came out for PC earlier than for consoles, or a little later after console release.

Consider yourself corrected. 😀

Yeah, GTA3, VC, and SA all came out for PC several months after the PS2 version was released.

I wonder what is the reasoning behind releasing GTA IV for consoles only.... I must say I am pretty pissed, since I only now found out GTA IV is not coming for PC on Apr 29th. (I was 100% sure it would)

Correct me if I am wrong, but all previous GTAs came out for PC earlier than for consoles, or a little later after console release. I don't recall it being months or years later. What gives? did it suddenly become more profitable to release games for consoles as opposed to games for PCs?

Only reason I can imagine for this is piracy... But that would be stupid, since I could copy console games just as easily as PC games if I wanted to. In fact, with consoles it would be easier.

Be it as it may, did you guys see that this game got a 10 on gamespot? I think that's pretty amazing, since this must be the 1st time I've seen gamespot give a perfect 10 to any game. At least in the last few years.

This might be the latest in Publisher Marketing "Genius". PC gamers who also own consoles will buy the console version this month. Then 3-6 months later when the PC version is released with additional content and of course the future availability of free user downloadable content, the PC gamers are enticed to buy the PC version as well. One game, two sales. "Genius"!

It strikes me that this release coincides nicely with the cutting of the economic stimulus checks. Obviously they didn't know that but it sure works out in their favor. I'm guessing more than a few folks will take that cash and splurge on a new console. I'd consider it, but I'm not ready for a console yet. Too many PC games to conquer😛. Maybe a Wii for the kids though.

Look forward to buying GTA4 when it finally does come out for PC though.

New GameSpot "controversy". GTA IV debuted with a 9.5 score, but at some point afterward was bumped to a 10. Mistake? Or caving to some pressure? Not the first time recently that GS has been getting weird with the reviews.

Been a long time since you followed GTA I would assume- the console ports come first by a wide margin, then eventually a PC port.

I'm kind of excited about the MP portion of the game. The SP game has always kept me entertained. I've played through GTA3, VC, and SA multiple times, so replay value for the series has always been high for me. The games have always been worth the money. To add MP to the game sounds like some possible serious gravy to pile on top of what should be a great game. I hope it lives up to my expectations. But even if not, I don't think I'll be disappointed in my purchase overall.

I think it was a move to keep up with IGN and their whole "Only the second game ever to get a 10 on IGN!" because I heard some like where GameSpot was "Only the fifth game ever to get a 10 on GameSpot!". Lord has GS ever gone to the shitter. GiantBomb.com unite!

There is a multiplayer patch out for GTA SA; I was playing it last night in preperation for today. Loads of fun, I tried out the role playing server and a cops and robber server.

Highpoint: On the RP server some dude was giving a presidential speech, so I plowed through him, his cars and the crowd, at which point everything turned into a highspeed chase across the city before I drove off the bank into the sea in a blaze of firery glory.

Worth a look!

Is it really better than the modded MP for Vice City? I played that, and it was basically a bunch of guys just shooting each other, driving around. And it was very laggy-looking. Nothing organized.

So I never put any effort in trying the MP mod for SA. Was that a mistake? 😀

I installed it for the first time last night, and ended up playing for about 5 hours straight. Cops and robbers wasn't laggy even with 80+ people on the server, and the server had a good ping, below 100.

I think it is definitly worth a look, since you're killing time waiting for PC GTA4!

Cool, I may take a peak at it tomorrow then. Thanks for the info, Ramma2.

Here's the site I got the mod from:

http://www.sa-mp.com/

It has a downgrader on there too, since you have to be at version 1.0. I was at 1.01 from the patch, the re-released dvds after the hot coffee are 2.0 and need to be downgraded too.

Def anticipating giantbomb going large. I gave GS the benefit of the doubt but the mass defections and departures among the editorial staff show there was some shady stuff going on.

Is it really going to be out for PC "when it's ready"? I thought Satan had signed Rockstar to an exclusivity contract requiring it be available only on the Dark Lord's console for 6 or 12 months, before being allowed to be ported to PC or other consoles? At least, that's how it seemed with VC / SA and the Playsatan 2.

Anyway, I'm not buying another computer just to play it, especially one that you can't upgrade or do other things on, and have to buy a specific & separate kb/mouse for. Not to mention funding the most evil corporation which has ever existed... I'll just wait for the PC port and hope it doesn't suck ass like the previous ones.
