Lap times? If the Ford folk are to be believed, the current 2010 Mustang GT with the Track Pack can run a 1:39.7 or so and the ’11 car with the super-sticky tires was lapping in the low 1:38s, or roughly on par with our 414-hp BMW M3, whose brakes have seen better days and whose driver would not be considered a GingerMan expert. Either way, it looks as though the ’11 Mustang GT will obliterate the current car.

I don't know if I'd trust the C&D source as a comparison. It's more of a blog/word of mouth type post without enough detail.

Edit-Misread post. There are many factors.
Like oversteer said. Perhaps a different config?
Anybody got maps of all Gingerman configurations?

Had to be different configs...

From http://www.automobilemag.com/review...evrolet_camaro_zl1_vs_2013_ford_shelby_gt500/

"To find out who would be victorious, we visited Gingerman Raceway in Michigan, a 2.14-mile venue capable of unearthing any unsavory habits hiding behind those impressive horsepower figures."

From
http://blog.caranddriver.com/2011-f...rack-pack-to-complement-the-400-hp-5-0-liter/

"we ran into a handful of Ford engineers at the 1.88-mile GingerMan Raceway in South Haven, Michigan"

ZL1 and GT500 sound like they ran a longer track.

Lol shows you how much subjectivity and talking out of the ass there is in car reviews; it's the same transmission.

And the only shifter that belongs on a Tremec is a MGW.

Though using shifting issues are clutch related.

Well Insideline acknowledged that it's the same trans so it's not like they don't know. But yes, subjectivity or maybe variation between individual transmissions.

Wouldn't the linkage be different for the Mustand and Camaro, unless the engines are positioned exactly the same relative to the driver? I'd think that would be the biggest factor in how they feel.

For some reason the only idiots that pull next to me and rev in my 2011 with the Aluminum block and SVT package are the sad ricers with 350-400HP.

Even the Dodges and Cameros think they have something......sad.

What kind of car do you have? GT500?

I still say take the Shelby sticker off the GT500 so they can reduce the MSRP by $15k. Shelby hasn't been a gear head in decades, hes just a name dropping badge whore like Lucas, etc anyway.

Come on. The 662 horse Shelby would start at 40 grand if it didn't have Shelby's name on it? Where's that put the Boss LS? 36? Then the regular Boss? 31? Then I guess the GT has to start at around 22.

I'd be really surprised if the Shelby deal worked out to more than 500 bucks per car, and if they weren't giving it to Shelby they'd probably be spending it on advertising so you'd pay for it anyway.

And there you have it. Starting to look like the ZL1 is just a better track car.

That's like being the thinnest kid at fat camp though. A 4120 pound car with a heat soaking blower on it (and it seems like the ZL1 has far from the best heat exchanger on it) just isn't a very good choice for road course work.

If I was serious about racing a track that involved turning the steering wheel right now, I'd get a Z06. If I couldn't afford that I'd have to decide between a C6 GS and a Boss, though if I really wanted a Mustang for the twisties I'd try and wait to see what happens for the 2014.5/2015 model year.
